I realise this post should really have gone out yesterday, but I believe we should be thankful everyday.
No matter what is happening in our lives, and how bad we have it at a particular moment, there is always something to be thankful for.
In your darkest moments, when things go wrong, you are down and can’t see the positive easily, when life just doesn’t seem fair, that is the time it is most important to think about what you do have to be thankful for.
We are often guilty of overlooking the positive and focussing on the negative. This is the path to discontentment and unhappiness.
Every day, look for something you can be thankful for, no matter how small. Even something as seemingly inconsequential as your bus coming on time, it starts raining and you remembered your umbrella or you had your favourite biscuit with your morning cup of tea.
All these things can add up and make us see that things aren’t always as bad as they seem and that sometimes what we have is exactly what we need, and what we have is all we need.
Here areΒ 3 things I am thankful for right now:
Β Good Friends and Family
What moreΒ could we really ask for than good, supportive friends and family. The ones that you can call at 3am if you need them, the ones who can make you smile even when you’ve had a bad day and the ones that know you better than you know yourself sometimes. I am thankful that IΒ have people like this in my life.
Home Life
I am hardly rich, and don’t have a lady of leisure lifestyle, and while I sometimes wish I had, ultimately I’m lucky. I was born into a part of the world that has a good quality of life. When I see what’s happening in some countries, I am thankful that I live where I do.
My Job
Of course I hate my job some days, and I bitch and moan about it, but in the big scheme of things, I am thankful to have a job when so many people are out of work.
What are you thankful for right now?

I agree, I think. A lovely post, and I think thanksgiving is a great idea even though it’s Amaerican, just as a reminder to appreciate everything you have. #thelist
Debbie, My Random Musings
Exactly! For all we can’t necessarily celebrate it in the same way as the US do, its still good to be thankful π
Modern Belle
Beautiful post! So many reasons to be thankful at the end of the day. Thanks for the ray of sunshine.

I totally agree. This is so much easier to do if you think “what reasons do I have to drink champagne today?” #justanotherlinky
Debbie, My Random Musings
I love that way of looking at it!
OneDizzyBee
This might sound cheesy, but I’m thankful for the blogging community. When I started my blog, I had no idea there even was a community. You guys are great, and I love the little glimpses of lives and people I wouldn’t have known without this community.
Debbie, My Random Musings
I don’t think that’s cheesy at all, I totally agree with you. The blogging community rocks! I thought it would be all very cut throat, bloggers slagging each off etc but it’s not like that at all, it’s lovely π
Silly Mummy
Lovely! Yes, it is important not to get too bogged down in negatives and to remember the good things. #justanotherlinky
Debbie, My Random Musings
Thank you π The more you focus on the good, the better you end up feeling!

I’m thankful for those things too. Well except the job because I don’t have one, but I’m thankful that I don’t need to get one out here. I am thankful that my husband has a job, especially in a world where redundancies are happening daily. #kcacols
Debbie, My Random Musings
Yes, I think the job one can work two ways – being thankful you have one, or thankful you don’t if it’s by choice π
Becky (@educatingr)
I’m thankful for all those things too! A great post reminded us what is important in life. Thank you #JustAnotherLinky

Lovely post, sometimes it’s good just to take a step back and look at what we have, rather than what we don’t. I’m thankful for my family, and how close we are. x #KCACOLS
Debbie, My Random Musings
Thank you π I totally agree – its so easy to think about what we want, but when we appreciate what we have, often we realise we don’t need anything else! x
A Moment with Franca
I’m thankful for those things too, also for my own little family (husband and girls) and that we are all healthy. I’m thankful for being able to find something that I’m passion about and that I’m being supported to go ahead with this by my husband, family and friends and thankful that I’m able to spend more time with my kids as I’m a SAHM. What a nice post Debbie. Thanks for sharing this at #KCACOLS. So happy to have you again for this week! π

I am one of those people who doesn’t have a job and some days it gets to me so I try to look at it in a different way that inspires gratitude like being able to spend more time with my kids, I get to write more, and I get to focus on my own self-reflection. It’s a great quote Debbie. I’m so glad you shared it! Visiting from #anythinggoes
Debbie, My Random Musings
That’s a fab way of looking at it Michelle! Both ways have their good points and their bad, it’s all about how we choose to see it π Thank you!

Well said! We should always think about things we should be thankful for to put things into perspective and lessen our feeling of discontentment which turns into a lot of negativity. #anythinggoes
Debbie, My Random Musings
Thank you π I totally agree – if you look for the positive, that’s what you’ll find and the same for the negative!
Lady Nym
My three things right now would be: the fact my husband is okay after being hit by a minibus when cycling to work last week, the fact my boys are starting to play together and seem to be firm little friends, and the cup of tea I’ll have in a minute (kettle’s boiling!).
Lovely little post.
#AnythingGoes
Debbie, My Random Musings
All great things to be thankful for. Glad to hear your husband is ok! Thank you π
Katie (Growing Up KaterTot)
Being thankful is something that I try to remember to do every day. I think that gratefulness is what keeps us humble and able to enjoy even the littlest things in life (such as that biscuit you mentioned.) Today I am thankful for family outings. I’m excited to take a road trip with my husband and daughter this afternoon, even if it’s just to the store. Thank you so much for hosting #AnythingGoes!
Debbie, My Random Musings
When you really stop and think about what you are grateful for it makes you realise how much you have π Hope you enjoyed your shopping trip! Thanks for linking up π

Lovely post! Loved these lines – “In our darkest moments, when things go wrong, you are down and canβt see the positive easily, when life just doesnβt seem fair, that is the time it is most important to think about what you do have to be thankful for.” That is so insightful and true! I am grateful for the small things we sometimes take for granted – like clean water, air and food (you know how I feel about Cake π ). Thanks for hosting #anythinggoes
Debbie, My Random Musings
Thank you π That’s a good list because a lot of people in the world aren’t lucky enough to have the things we think of as basics. I love how you gave cake a mention lol π You’re welcome, thanks for linking up!
Rachel (Lifeofmyfamilyandme)
I love reading these posts. I think it is really important not to take things for granted and when we are having a time in our live when we need a pick me up, this is the type of post to read. I am so thankful for my family, children and our health. I have so much to be thankful for, it is important not to forget them. Thanks so much for linking up at #KCACOLS. Hope you come back again next Sunday
Debbie, My Random Musings
Sometimes we don’t realise how much we have to be thankful for until we actively think about it, and then we realise how much good there is in our lives. Thank you and thanks for hosting π

This is a lovely post and I totally agree, focussing on positive things is a much better way to live than constantly dwelling on the negatives. I am thankful for my amazing husband and our beautiful son.. I also agree with number2 on your list, I am so happy I was born in the UK and not in to a country that suffers with war and poverty..we really are lucky for that one.xx #AnythingGoes
Debbie, My Random Musings
Thank you π I think you are much more likely to be happy if you look for the good rather than the bad. We really are lucky in this country. x
Mommy's Little Princesses
Those are all really good things to be thankful for. Like you I’m thankful my family and family. I’m also thankful the roof I have over my head and that my girls have everything they need.xx #KCACOLS
Debbie, My Random Musings
Those are good ones too, often our home is something we take for granted, but a lot of people don’t have that! x
Trista, Domesticated Momster
It is so true that we should be thankful all year instead of only mentioning it during the holidays. I try to remind myself, even on the bad days, that I am so lucky in so many ways. It’s so easy to dwell on the negative sometimes but I really try to remember that there are so many more people who are worse off than me. Thanks again for hostessing Debbie π Another thing I’m thankful for!
Debbie, My Random Musings
I think often the good outweighs the bad, just we tend to see the bad easier so it seems there’s more of it around. You are right, there is alsways someone worse off than us and its important to be thankful for what we have π Thanks for linking up!
Something Crunchy Mummy
