As many of you know by now, I used to work as a bar tender. I love making new cocktails any time of the year, but I had to make a Christmas cocktail.
What better way to start your Christmas night out than with a good cocktail!
This is perfect for house parties, or just for Christmas movie night as it is so easy to make and none of the ingredients are the sort of thing you buy for one cocktail then don’t really know what to do with.
Santa’s Ruin Christmas Cocktail Recipe
This recipe makes 1 520ml (just short of a pint) serving.
Warning: This drink is much stronger than it tastes.
You Will Need:
283ml (1/2 pint) of cider – I use Strongbow as I find the dry tang really works with the other ingredients, but any cider would work.
187ml cranberry juice
25ml Malibu
25ml Southern Comfort
How to Make:
Pour the cider into a pint glass – I use the stemmed ones as I think they look much nicer than a standard one, but can use any you have to hand.
Add the cranberry juice, Malibu and Southern Comfort.
Stir gently to avoid loosing the fizz.
If you want to tone down the alcohol a bit, split this mixture between two pint glasses and top up with lemonade.
To make it really festive, decorate with a candy cane and sprinkle in a pinch of silver edible glitter (available in the baking aisle of most supermarkets).
The glitter looks amazing floating down through the drink.
Tip: Don’t use silver balls (you know the ones people use on cupcakes). They look fab for about a minute, then all the silver comes off leaving raggedy looking floaters in the drink and white balls at the bottom. It seemed like a good idea until I tried it.

Sounds amazing. Definitely worth putting my raspberry mojitos to one side to try one of these. #TheList
I quite like a mojito too, we should swap lol 🙂
Wow, this already sounds strong! Then again, I drink alcohol only rarely and have never had a cocktail. #weekendblogshare

They are kind of strong, they taste good though lol! Thanks for hosting 🙂 x
Oh you can’t go adding lemonade to this lol it sounds perfect as it is! This is a really great idea, again so creative with your flavours! x
It does taste really good as it is. I wouldn’t add the lemonade either to be honest, it just waters it down lol 🙂 Thank you x
I’m enjoying read this again – I’m inspired by the edible glitter this year, I’m going to look for some for my Christmas party! Thanks Debbie. #ChristmasIsCalling x
I love it! You can get it in Asda if you don’t want to go to speciality shops 🙂 x
Yum! this looks really good! I am going to try this. Maybe for a Christmas party!
OMG that sounds LETHAL!!! (And yummy :))
I discovered mulled cider last week for the first time – I think that may become my new Christmas tipple. I like a cocktail that isn’t whisky based…other than that, I’m not too fussy – I’ll take what I’m (hopefully) given! Alison x #ChristmasisCalling
If I had a few of these I would be getting a big old hangover for Christmas!
My teen years killed any hopes of drinking Southern Comfort.
Haha the teen years ruined Bacardi for me!
Mmmm…sounds like just the right fix!
#ChristmasIsCalling
It tastes pretty fab!
