One of the things I love about Christmas is the Christmas movies.
There is no better way to get into the spirit of Christmas than to turn the lights down low, put the fire and Christmas tree lights on and watch a good Christmas movie.
Preferably snuggled up in PJs with, I’d like to say, a nice hot chocolate, but I’m going to be honest and say wine.
There is something different about Christmas movies than normal movies. I don’t know if it’s because we only really watch them once a year, but they always seem extra special. I always look forward to watching them so much more than I look forward to a movie any other time.
They really help build up the excitement and put me in a Christmassy mood.
I often end up wishing I lived in a street like the ones in the movies, where everyone really makes Christmas a community thing and every house is decked out head to toe with lights and out door ornaments.
My All Time 3 Favourite Christmas Movies Are:
1. Home Alone
I adore this movie, and can watch it anytime, but it’s so much better at Christmas. I like all of the series but the first one is by far my favourite.
2. Jingle All The Way
This movie makes me laugh every time. It is exaggerated a little to make it funny, but it probably describes the way a lot of parents feel at Christmas when they suddenly realise they have forgotten this season’s must have toy and go on a crazy mission to find it.
3. Harry Potter
Ok, so technically, Harry Potter isn’t a Christmas movie but I always think of it as one. Any of them will do, they all make me feel like it’s Christmas, probably because there is always at least one shown on the TV on Christmas Day.
It just doesn’t feel like Christmas until I have watched these.

Home Alone is a Christmas classic but my all time fave is It’s A Wonderful Life – it gets me every time.
Harry Potter is an obsession all year round lol π #abitofeverything

Strangely, I’ve never seen It’s A Wonderful Life, no idea why as it’s probably the most classic Christmas film ever! Yeah, Harry Potter is watched way more often than Christmas, but it’s still something I have to watch in December π
jeremy@thirstydaddy
I forgot all about Jingle All the Way. I’ll have to look that up.Any discussion for me begins and ends with Christmas Vacation.
Debbie, My Random Musings
Oh I haven’t seen that one, I’ll be checking it out π

I love Christmas movies. Which is so weird because I’m Jewish. I’m a big fan of the first two Home Alone movies. I think my favorite is the Muppet Christmas Carol. Or Scrooged. Good stuff π
Debbie, My Random Musings
I guess they are just feel good movies, whatever your beliefs you can enjoy a good movie π I totally forgot about any of the Christmas Carol films when I wrote the post!
Sarah Howe (@RunJumpScrap)
We like Home Alone, Elf, Love Actually, National Lampoon and any Christmas Carol films!! I like Jingle all the Way though…really fun. Thanks for sharing with #bestandworst and see you soon xx

Call me predictable but I love ELF (with Will Ferrel) and it is now one that we can watch together as a family. I am also a sucker for the old black and white, “It’s a Wonderful Life”…just a bit long…AND my number one pick is always “Love Actually”!!!!
Debbie, My Random Musings
I like Elf too, it’s one you can watch over and over and never get sick of π

Louise (Little Hearts, Big Love)
I’ve not seen Jingle All The Way so perhaps I need to rectify that! My favourite Christmas film is It’s A Wonderful Life π
Debbie, My Random Musings
It’s a good, feel good, have a giggle type movie, perfect for family night π Everyone is saying that, I really need to watch it!
Silly Mummy
I so agree – Christmas films are special! Home Alone is in my top three as well! I see Harry Potter as a Christmas film, too (but I like the books better!).
Love Actually and Home Alone are my two I watch EVERY year. & usually A Christmas Carol (the George C Scott one) & Santa Claus the Movie (managed to get Toddler into this one – result!) #ChristmasCorner
Debbie, My Random Musings
I’m glad I’m not the only one who thinks of Harry Potter as a Christmas film. I don’t mind the books but I prefer the movies (please don’t hate me lol). I think its because I watched them before reading the books. Definite result!

This is a good mix. My faves are ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’, Curly Sue (a stretch but I’m having it) And The Snowman, which I don’t care for but it make my hubby well up which is cute.
Debbie, My Random Musings
Thank you π Lol it is a stretch but why not, it’s Christmas after all π Aww that is cute!

Good choices! Our kids can watch Elf on an endless loop but, in addition to It’s A Wonderful Life, the one film I always make a point of watching every Christmas is Die Hard. Well, it *does* take place at Christmas … π
Debbie, My Random Musings
Thank you π A few people have said Die Hard, I don’t think of it as a Christmas film but most people would say that about Harry Potter! Whatever works for you π
Agent Spitback
Oh, I love all three movies! I also love Elf, Santa Clause and Polar Express. Yep, I’ll be watching them again, just before Christmas! Thanks for sharing with #abitofeverything
Debbie, My Random Musings
I love Elf and Santa Clause too! I usually wait until the week before but I think I might start early this year π Thanks for hosting!

I think one of my top Christmas films would be A Christmas Carol, looking forward to getting the Christmas TV guide and circling all the good films to watch! #brilliantblogposts
Debbie, My Random Musings
I love doing that, I thought I was the only one who still did it lol π
Lex
What a strange concept you have about Harry Potter being a Christmas film, but now I think about it…I agree! It makes me want to get some cosy pjs on, a nice big blanket and settle down with my tree lights on. I totally agree with Home Alone, my fella is home alone mad and has been since a young child, so I have this on almost every day. My favourite is The Grinch! You just can’t beat it #XmasCorner
Debbie, My Random Musings
That’s exactly how I feel about Harry Potter, although I still like watching it other times too π I like the Grinch too!
Louise
I love all these! I would add The Santa Clause to my list too though X
Debbie, My Random Musings
I like the Santa Clause as well π x
Rhyming with wine
Great choice of films. I agree with Harry a potter too. Not technically Christmassy but I think it’s the magical theme that does it for me. We watched the first one last night and I think we might end up on a roll and watching all of them by New Year.
Thank you for hosting. Hope you had a lovely Christmas.
Dawn x
Debbie, My Random Musings
Thank you π There’s just something about it isn’t there that makes you think of Christmas! Had a fantastic day thank you, hope you did too x
