Last year I was tagged in a blogging bucket list tag. This made me really think about where I wanted my blog to go and what I wanted to achieve. I found it really helped keep me on track to have some goals to aim for, so I decided this year to do another one.
You can check out last year’s progress here.
This year, I want to concentrate on continuing to grow my blog and also on doing some writing outside of the blog. That was part of last year’s plan, but it got a bit neglected as every spare moment seemed to be spent on the blog.
I think this year I have more of an idea of the time blogging takes up and I am determined to streamline my time. I am also determined to not stress out if a post goes up a bit late.
Read on for my list of things I want to achieve by the end of 2016:
Blogging Bucket List
Reach 500,000 page views
- Have 5000 Twitter followers
- Have 1000 Instagram followers
- Post at least one blog post a day (except for holidays)
- Take part in several blog related challenges (and a couple of non blog related ones, more on that later)
- Finish my novel and have it published.
- Write a book of short stories and self publish them
- Learn how to self publish
- Make up a media kit
- Do more work with brands, even if it means getting brave and approaching them
- Do at least one guest post for other bloggers per month (if anyone wants to offer me a slot, feel free)
- Look into and hopefully start doing some freelance writing work
- Accept that if things don’t go to plan, and a post is a couple of hours late going out it’s not a big deal and the world won’t stop turning
- Finally get around to upgrading my Inlinkz account so that I can have thumbnails on my linky
- Practice editing my fiction. This one is quite a big deal for me. I always worry that by editing, it will take out the spontaneity of the piece. To use a cliché, that it won’t be in “my voice” after editing. I was talking to a friend about this a couple of days ago and she gave me some excellent tips on how to edit without losing the essence of the story.
- Set up a Facebook page – this one is only a maybe as I have always said I want to keep Facebook for personal use only, but so many bloggers seem to do really well from Facebook so it’s something I am considering.
If you read my post about how I did on last year’s blogging bucket list, you might notice some of these goals are the same. These are the ones I didn’t complete fully, or in some cases didn’t even start! I am going to have a copy of this list displayed on a post it on my desk top. If I see it every day, I hope it will help keep me motivated and on track.
Wish me luck!
Have you got your blogging bucket list or you more of a wing it type? Let me know in the comments 🙂

That’s a lot of goals and I wish you good luck. I am also in the same boat where my page views need improving and my SEO. I hope we meet our target.
Thank you 🙂 I’m sure we will!
I love these goals, good luck and I hope you succeed in every single one 🙂 Happy new year x
Thank you so much 🙂 Happy New Year! x
Good luck with these goals! I have read quite a few people wanting to work on their novels and other writing this year, seems like a very popular goal 🙂
Thank you 🙂 Yeah, I’ve seen quite a few too, good to know I’m not the only person crazy enough to attempt it lol! Sorry I didn’t get the post out in time to join your linky, I’ll be back next month 🙂
They are really good goals to have. I’m a bit like you and have aims – but not putting too much pressure on myself. Half a million views, wow! I’m writing a novel too. Would love to chat to you more about the writing end of things. If you visit my site, I have lots of writing related posts – do you write about writing? Will have to fully investigate your blog! x
Thank you 🙂 I haven’t written anything about writing fiction yet but I do plan to later on this year, I’ve wrote quite a bit about blogging though. Will definitely check out your site 🙂 x
That’s definitely an ambitious list, but worth trying for. Good luck with your writing and goals.
I’m slack and only ever have a vague thought on where I want to be.
It is kind of a lot but it gives me something to aim for. Thank you 🙂 Whatever works for you!
I published my blogging goals at the beginning of the year. That’s a lot of pressure to publish a post daily. I wanted to do that too but put a lot of pressure on me so I have had a lot of bloggers block. Now I only publish every few days again.
It’s about finding what works for you – if you know realistically that posting daily isn’t your thing, it’s better to concentrate on a way that does work for you 🙂
There are some great goals here and I wish you luck in achieving them. I struggle with my Facebook page as I don’t share things on my personal page so was difficult to initially agin some likes. It’s so exciting you are on the cusp of finishing your novel, thats admirable and something I wish I could do. Good luck with the year ahead.
Thank you 🙂 I don’t have a Facebook page for that exact reason, but I am considering it this year, see how it goes. Thank you, I’m really excited about my novel. Good luck to you too!
Matt Shaw self publishes all of his books and I can definitely recommend his book on self publishing:
I would also definitely recommend setting up a Facebook page; most of my traffic on both of my sites comes from Facebook.
Good luck with your blogging goals; I reckon you can nail them all!
Thank you, I’ll check that out when I’m ready to get into it 🙂 It’s something I’m really thinking about. Thanks, I hope so!
Wow that is a mammoth list of goals. We’ll done you on your ambitionsite. Posting daily sounds like hard work 🙂 good luck with everything. #thelist Lifeinthemumslane
I know – I’m not sure I’ll get them all but I’m going to give it a good go! It is hard but it’s something I’ve done for a while now so I’ve kind of built a routine. Thank you 🙂
feel free to come and guest post for me!! I love these goals Debbie, they are great and I love that you’ve done the FB page now!
I’d love to hit a decent amount of page views this year – my holidays keep getting in the way!
Thank you! 🙂 It took 11 months for me to finally bite the bullet with Facebook lol. Good luck, I’m sure you’ll do brilliantly this year, and don’t let that stop you taking holidays!
