Wow, January is over today.
I can’t believe how fast it has gone, especially considering how much I dislike winter, I expected it to drag on forever.
I thought I would re-start my reflections on my best and worst posts from the month.
Here are January’s:
My Best Posts
These are my top three most viewed posts from January, not including linkys:
- Blogging Bucket List 2016 This post was my 16 blog goals for 2016. It was one of my best performing posts of all time.
- New Year’s Resolutions And Why I Make Them by Janet This was a guest post by the lovely Janet talking about why she makes New Year’s resolutions, even though a lot of people seem to frown upon them these days.
- No Complaints Day: 24 Hours of Pure Positivity This post was about a challenge I recently took part, where you have to go a full 24 hours with no complaining and no negativity.
My Worst Posts
These are my three least viewed posts:
- 5 Things You Didn’t Know About Me This post is a short list of random facts about me. I’m not sure if people just didn’t want to read random facts about me, or it’s just because it was only posted yesterday so it hasn’t reached it’s full potential yet.
- January’s Reading List I’m quite surprised at this one, as my monthly reading list post usually does quite well.
- Angel Time by Anne Rice: Book Review It’s certainly possible people weren’t that interested in this post, but I don’t think it helped that the first three times I tweeted it, the link was wrong – oops!
Overall, January has been a good month for me. I have seen my traffic pick back up after my Christmas break. I was a little worried that taking two weeks off would cost me a lot of readers but if anything, I seem to have gained a few. I think Christmas is probably the best time to have off, as I think most bloggers did the same.
Thank you to everyone who has read my blog this month (or indeed ever).
Why not check out my most popular posts, see if you agree they were the best ones, or visit my least popular ones and show the underdog a bit of love.
What were your best and worst posts this month? Let me know in the comments 🙂

This month started out pretty slow for me also, but seems to be picking back up. Having a few sponsored things in a row didn’t do me any favors, but not many of those come my way.
Debbie, My Random Musings
Yeah, I think the sponsored posts work out ok if they are spaced out, but at the same time, if it’s a good opportunity, its not something you want to turn down.
Michelle
Surprisingly, my most viewed post as of today is My “Throw me to the wolves” post, then Shannara Chronicles Review, Then my post about my Therapist. Can’t wait to see what happens next month. January is pretty mild, weather wise here too. I can’t believe it’s February already (well, it will be over here in about 4 1/2 hours). Ever since I joined two Facebook blogger groups and have been more active on multiple social media sites, including stumble upon, I have notice a major spike in my stats. Here’s to all of us gaining more viewers for 2016! #anythinggoes
Debbie, My Random Musings
I loved your throw me to the wolves post, it really spoke to me. I love Stumble Upon, it is a great traffic referrer, and the Facebook groups really do make a big difference too 🙂
Michelle
I love the Facebook groups I’m in and I’ve actually started to really like Stumble Upon. I have been sharing many posts of other bloggers too on there and then adding my own. It has become one of my top referrers to my blog. Thanks so much for linking up with #manicmonday
Debbie, My Random Musings
I love Stumble Upon, it’s so addictive. I often pop on to add a post and find myself still there an hour later lol 🙂 Thanks for hosting
Jeremy@thirstydaddy
stumble upon seems kind of hit or miss to me, but a few of my posts have done really well there.
Debbie, My Random Musings
Same here. It’s one of my top referrers but I still haven’t sussed out what will work and what won’t. Just when I think I have, something I didn’t expect work gets a load of views! I just put every post on now and hope for the best!
Katie (Growing Up KaterTot)
January was a rough month for me, probably because it took me awhile to get back into the swing of thing after the holidays. My most viewed posts were my Modern Oats Review and my Paper Plate Snowman craft. My Weekly Words post on effort was my least viewed post. February marks my blog’s first birthday, and I’m so excited!! Hoping things pic, up a bit! #AnythingGoes
Debbie, My Random Musings
Sorry to hear that Katie, onwards and upwards, write it off and keep going! I loved your snowman craft 🙂 I’m surprised that one of your weekly words was your least viewed, they are always so inspirational. My blog’s birthday is in February too 🙂
Angela at Daysinbed
It sounds like January has been good for you. You have some fab goals for 2016 and its always good to have goals to work towards. Angela
Debbie, My Random Musings
Yes, it has been a good month. I have to have goals to keep me motivated, otherwise as I’m writing things etc I question what the point is.
Harry's Honest Mummy
Very honest of you to list your best and worst. January is always that month of reflection and goal setting so it’s no surprise to me that your post about goals for 2016 was the outright winner. People like to take a sneaky peek and perhaps steal a few for themselves 🙂 That being said…..need to think about mine, now where is that link….. #AnythingGoes
Debbie, My Random Musings
Thank you, I wanted the post to be balanced, so I knew I had to share the bad as well as the good. That’s true, I like to read other people’s goals for the same reason. Feel free to steal away lol 🙂
Catie: An imperfect mum
I need to be more reflective regarding my blog and which posts are popular. I don’t do this. January started quite slowly but has picked up well. My best posts were Family Fun #1 my new Linky, What is autism? and Please don’t tell me my autistic son looks normal.
Debbie, My Random Musings
To be honest I do it more to satisfy my curiosity than anything else, I don’t let it influence what I post, although maybe I should. I loved your post about people not telling you your autistic son looks normal, very eye opening!
Tracey Abrahams
I loved your five facts about me post, but maybe thats because im a nosey moo. My best post this month was How To Move To WordPress.org I find that posts about blogging always get good stats from from the linkies. However they dont do much for my non blogging readers so I have to space them out xx #anythinggoes
Debbie, My Random Musings
Thank you! There’s nothing wrong with being nosey, I’m the same only I call it curious haha 🙂 I loved that post, I wish it had been around before I moved! I agree, the blog tips posts always do well, but it could be a bit off putting to anyone not interested in starting a blog or already blogging x
Mommy's Little Princesses
I’m so glad to hear that January has been a good month for you and that it hasn’t dragged. Your goals for 2016 sound absolutely fabulous I hope you manage to achieve them all. Xx #KCACOLS
Debbie, My Random Musings
I’m shocked, because usually January feels like it goes on forever! Thank you so much 🙂 x
Becky, Cuddle Fairy
It’s ironic because I read your top three posts but none of your least viewed posts. I never know which ones will take off – besides the social media tips which always do well. Right now, my toilet training tips have gone crazy – and I didn’t expect that. I’m glad to see that our day of positivity made the top three! #AnythingGoes x
Debbie, My Random Musings
A couple of people have said that, maybe the titles aren’t up to scratch or something! It’s nice when a post does better than you expect. I read your toilet training post, I’m not even a parent and I thought the tips were fab! I know I was pleased about that, it’s good to know people like the positive things 🙂 x
Jessica Powell (Babi a Fi)
I’ve read the top three but not the bottom, not even sure why! Mine was a bit slow for the first two weeks of the month, but picked up towards the end. 🙂 #anythinggoes
Debbie, My Random Musings
Glad it picked up 🙂 Onwards and upwards!
Agent Spitback
It’s good to reflect. I haven’t looked at mine yet and it’s strange to think that sometimes what you think will do well doesn’t and vice versa. Thanks for sharing yours (I actually popped to read about the 5 facts about you 🙂 )and hosting.
Debbie, My Random Musings
I know a few times I’ve posted something I’m not sure about and it’s been really well received and the stuff I think will do well hasn’t always. It’s just hit and miss I think lol 🙂
Lady Nym
I need to get my motivation back as it’s waned slightly but I think having a couple of low key weeks
has helped and hopefully I can get back on form. I’m hoping for a good February.

Debbie, My Random Musings
Sometimes all you need is to step down a bit and you realise how much you miss it and you’re raring to go 🙂
Luke Strickland
I’ve had a good month, despite posting a little less than normal to focus on finishing my current book project. I must say that I really appreciate being part of #AnythingGoes, so a big thanks to you!
Debbie, My Random Musings
Well done, it makes it all worthwhile when you get good results 🙂 You’re welcome, so glad you are a part of it!
laura dove
Off to read the posts which I have missed! Thanks as always for hosting! #anythinggoes
Debbie, My Random Musings
Thank you, I hope you enjoy them 🙂 You’re welcome, thanks for linking up x
Nicky Kentisbeer
I read one from each list! Your Bucket List is admirable and I think I’m right in saying you can tick one or two off already? Oh and I don’t think Watermelon tastes the same as it used to. Less flavour! Good luck with your goals. As long as you are chipping away at them, you are achieving. Thanks for hosting. Nicky #AnythingGoes
Debbie, My Random Musings
Thank you 🙂 You are right, I’ve made a start and I feel like I’m getting somewhere. Yeah, its mostly just water now isn’t it. x
wendy
Ohh I am going to go check out your blogging bucket list and have a look at your reading list too. I took time off over Christmas too, I think most of us bloggers did. I never look at my individual post views, just my general page views. I am curious to know what my most popular posts are now!xx #anythinggoes
Debbie, My Random Musings
Thanks, I hope you like the posts 🙂 I check both, but I probably mainly check the individual ones x
Trista, Domesticated Momster
Every time I see how many views you have my jaw drops! Think you’re doing fabulous Debbie! I’m popping over from #manicmonday 💌Trista
Debbie, My Random Musings
Aww thank you so much 🙂 To be honest, I feel that way about it myself, it always amazes me that people take the time out to come and read my posts!
tracey bowden
I really need to track which of my posts do well so I know what to write more of. My fiction pieces tend to e more popular than my real life ones lately! #KCACOLS
Debbie, My Random Musings
It’s funny, I keep track of it, but it doesn’t really influence what I post I just like to know. I love a bit of fiction, it could be a good thing, if you ever choose to write a book, you’ve got a ready made audience!
Silly Mummy
I’ve never seen anyone do a most and least viewed roundup – it’s a good way of reviewing your blog progress. I did very little on blog over Christmas – I think it is the best time. I figured there was going to be hardly anyone doing anything and even less reading anything so I might as well have a break & enjoy Christmas! My stats were very low initially, but picked up and probably have averaged at a bit better than they were. #anythinggoes
Debbie, My Random Musings
I wanted the post to be balanced, so for me that meant sharing the bad as well as the good. I think Christmas is a good time to have off. Apart from the fact you want to spend time with family etc, no one has spare time to be reading blog posts! Glad to hear they are on the up 🙂
Pickinguptoys
Both December and January were quite low views for me but then I think I fell out of love with it for a bit.Thankfully I’m picking back up now.I’ve never thought of actually seeing which one’s were best/worst though.Great idea x #kcacols
Debbie, My Random Musings
Glad to hear it’s picking back up 🙂 Thank you!
Mrs Tubbs
Having done nothing over Christmas, January has been quite busy blog wise. Well done to you on the page views 🙂 Always nice to know that the Internet has found you
Debbie, My Random Musings
I was expecting January to be a really slow month after the break, so I’m really pleased with it. Thank you 🙂
Sarah Howe (@RunJumpScrap)
I loved the positivity post! Really inspiring. Sounds like a good month. I enjoyed Christmas off but things have picked up which is nice 🙂 Thanks for linking with #bestandworst x
A Moment with Franca
Well done for the great views on those posts. I think December is a slow month as we normally want to spend some time with the family. I was worried too because I took 2 weeks off and wasn’t sure how was it going to be for me in Jan but it wasn’t that bad. I was glad to know that my blog survived even though I didn’t do much that month so it is promising. What I meant is that I like the idea to be able to take some breaks during the year. Thanks so much for sharing this at #KCACOLS. I would love to see you again on Sunday! 🙂 x
Debbie, My Random Musings
Thank you 🙂 It is a relief to know you can take a bit of time off and it is possible to get back to where you left off! Thank you for hosting, see you Sunday x
Wave to Mummy
I never have checked which posts have been the most popular the past month so don’t know, but I suspect a post about potty training has done consistently well over the last months!
I love the idea about doing 24 hours of positive thinking, I’m a pretty positive person, but this might be fun to do anyway. It’s always good to try and think positively, makes your life and lives of your closest ones much nicer…
Thanks for linking to #mymonthlyroundup and hope to see you next month too 🙂
Debbie, My Random Musings
That’s good, the ones that keep doing well over time are so good. The 24 hours of positivity was fab, it really lifted my mood and made me realise how I often I moan for no real reason! Thanks for hosting, and you will see me next month for sure 🙂
Sassy
This is a really good post, a great way to review your stats but also to encourage readers to click on the least viewed posts 🙂 I think you gain readers quickly as you write daily, and a vast amount of topics 🙂 #AnythingGoes
Debbie, My Random Musings
Thank you 🙂 Yes, I try to convince people to show a little love to the posts that are left out lol. I should really map it and see if anyone actually does click through. It definitely helps with traffic posting daily because people check back knowing there’ll be something new.
tanya
I have been really rubbish at reading other people’s blogs the last couple of month, so my apologies. I’m hoping to get better and join more linkies again too 🙂
Debbie, My Random Musings
Sometimes there’s just so much to do and something has to give! Hope to see you back at Anything Goes soon 🙂
