With St Patrick’s Day just around the corner on March 17th, I thought I would stray off topic a little bit today and share a cocktail recipe with you.
Is it bad that I’m English and yet I know the date of St Patrick’s Day without having to look it up but I would have to Google St George’s Day?
I blame being a barmaid. And that saying – “Everybody’s Irish on St Patrick’s Day”. I think it might be a song lyric actually, but never mind, it makes sense.
There’s always a big thing about drinking the obligatory pint of Guinness if you go out or have a party or anything, but if you’re like me and hate the stuff (sorry Ireland) it’s not easy.
This cute little shooter is the perfect way to have the Guinness without the taste.
Baby Guinness Recipe
You will need:
1 slightly oversized shot glass and any other shot glass
25ml Tia Maria
Approx 3ml Baileys
A straw
How to make it:
- Pour the Tia Maria into the oversized shot glass
- Pour the Baileys into the other glass
- Dip the straw into the Baileys without touching the bottom of the glass
- Place your thumb over the top of the straw to seal some of the Baileys inside
- Hold the straw against the side of the glass containing the Tia Maria and slowly remove your thumb allowing the Baileys to trickle out
- If you do this right, the Baileys will float on top of the Tia Maria making it look like a tiny pint of Guinness.
Not only are these little shooters pretty cute, they also taste amazing. Be prepared to want more than one.

This sounds delicious and really does look like a cute little Guinness. You are spot on when you say everyone (across the world) becomes Irish on St Patrick’s Day ๐

I love a baby Guinness! Definitely preferable for me than an actual Guinness. I am the same with knowing the date of st Patrick’s day, I’ll go with you that it comes from working in a pub (and drinking in lots of pubs haha!). #BloggerClubUK

I love a baby Guinness – they are so tasty! And definitely the perfect drink for St Patrick’s day. I add the baileys by holding a spoon upside down over the shot glass & pouring the baileys over the back of the spoon so it trickles onto the tia maria. Thanks so much for linking up with us at #bloggerclubuk

I love them, very moreish! Believe it or not, there’s never ever a spoon kicking about when you need one where I work, but there’s always straws, that’s why I tend to use the straw but a spoon is so much quicker! Thanks for hosting ๐
