Welcome to day twenty-five of the A to Z Challenge! My theme is 100 word (give or take a word or two) flash fiction on the darker side of human nature. I hope you enjoy.
You
You are my enemy. You creep along behind me, waiting for me to let my guard down, waiting to strike. You are faceless, nameless, but you are no less real. You are the one who makes me jump at shadows, the one who makes me nervous, jittery. You are the one who makes me seem paranoid, makes me seem crazy. You are the one who stalks me through the shadow, the one who will take everything I have and all I can become. I may not know who you are, but I know you are out there. Waiting. Watching. You.
For extended versions of the A-Z flash fiction pieces and some whole new stories too, download my book, Twisted Tales.

Scary! Made me shiver because I’m scared of something that isn’t there, yet I feel it. Darkness didn’t used to scare me, in fact I relished in it, but now when it gets dark, I lock up nice and tight and hide until daylight…
Loved your flash fiction. You evoked a feeling of fear in such a short piece. Bravo!
PS: Thanks, Debbie, for reading my story about Bella over at Life in Dogs. I appreciated your comment!
You’re welcome, Bella’s story really touched me!
It must be an awful feeling to be scared of something that you can’t quite place. Thank you so much, I’m glad you liked it 🙂
Uh oh. I’ll stay far away. Sounds a little paranoid to me.
Yes, give this person a wide berth!
Ties in beautifully with the Xenophobia bit from yesterday, Debbie. Love it 🙂
Thank you 🙂 This could almost be the same person talking!
The question is: does ‘you’ exist ?
“You” is very real to the narrator, whether or not they are real to anyone else, well that is the question isn’t it!
Well, I hope the narrator says that to “You’s” face and makes You go away.
That would be the best possible outcome I think!
Look, our posts have the same name but they couldn’t be more different!
Seems like someone needs a restraining order or a psychologist ;P
I know, it’s funny how we used the same word but in such different ways! Yes, they really do lol!
“Seem paranoid”? I dunno…
They could be paranoid, or maybe they’re just in tune with their senses and they are right!
Hey YOU
just visiting

Thanks for the visit 🙂
Sounds like my imagination. Always making me jump at nothing and scaring me.
~Ninja Minion Patricia Lynne aka Patricia Josephine~
That’s a bonus for a writer though, there’s always some material there!
The you is me or is it the other way around?
It could be either 🙂
Very cool. Is it a stalker or monster or even something inside the head of the person like a schizophrenic hallucination or voice? Maybe even guilt riding the person hard because of what they’ve done. So many possibilities.
There’s definitely a lot of possibilities here. It could be anyone of those things and you’re left wondering if the person is mentally ill or if they are genuinely under attack and no one believes them!
