Getting the perfect beach body is really simple and can be achieved by literally anyone with a body by following the simple steps below:
- Complete your usual getting ready in the morning routine
That’s it. You’re good to go.
You don’t need perfect abs, buns of steel and thighs that can crack nuts.
You are perfect just as you are, and don’t let anyone tell you differently – not even yourself.
We are all different, and our bodies are part of us, therefore they are all different. This difference is something to be celebrated, not worried over.
Why should we spend so much time, effort and often money striving to reach someone else’s definition of perfection?
Does it matter if you’re pale? Living in the UK, it’s almost a requirement.
Does it matter if you’re not a perfectly toned gym bunny? Of course it doesn’t.
One thing everyone is perfect at is being themselves. Embrace your difference, love yourself and accept that it’s perfectly fine to be you, and to let other people be them.
Who defines perfect anyway? Surely we aren’t letting Hollywood and the media definite it for us? The only person who can define perfect for you is you.
Often, body insecurities are totally unfounded. It really is unlikely that other people at the beach (or wherever you are off to) have nothing better to do than to watch you. They are probably too interested in having fun, relaxing, and sometimes, worrying about their own insecurities.
It’s easy to see a group of people laughing and think they are laughing at you – chances are they are not. They are most likely laughing at whatever conversation they happen to be having, whether reminiscing about the good old days, telling jokes or telling funny work stories.
And you know what? If they are laughing at you, that says so much more about them than it ever will about you (unless you’re doing something intentionally funny). Generally, people put others down for two reasons:
- To gloss over their own insecurities by drawing attention away from themselves and onto someone else.
- To try and impress their friends, and if their friends aren’t superficial idiots they won’t appreciate the comments anyway.
It’s also easy to think people are staring at you. Again, it’s most likely they aren’t. You just happened to glance up at the same moment they did and you made accidental eye contact. Smile. They probably feel as uncomfortable as you do and a smile can make all the awkwardness go away.
And if they are staring at you, have you ever considered maybe, just maybe, they like your hair, or whatever your wearing. Maybe they can see you are confident in yourself and wish they could be more like you. It doesn’t have to be negative.
So whether your beach wear of choice is three triangles and a couple of pieces of string or a long sleeved t-shirt with trousers (or any option in between) wear it with pride, because you are already beach body ready.
You have a body, therefore you’re ready.
Now grab your towel and your sunscreen and go have fun.

I take it you’ve never been to southern California.
That being said, I don’t much care what others think. I don’t go to the beach. Sand. Crowds. Ugh. But your points are good ones.
Debbie, My Random Musings
I haven’t – I’m thinking perhaps I should avoid it? lol
I love the beach, but I do hate when you come off and there’s sand everywhere! Thank you 🙂
Laura @ Life with Baby Kicks
Baby talc ladies – throw it on and the sans brushes right off x
Debbie, My Random Musings
Oooh, thanks for that, I’ll definitely be getting some of that, I hate sand once I’m off the beach! x

It’s all about body confidence. I’m a bit of a gym bunny and post baby am working hard to get back in shape for summer but I appreciate that’s not for everyone.
I don’t feel the need to conform to look a certain way it’s about being confident and I love the buzz of working out and those endorphins which boost my mood!
Debbie, My Random Musings
I don’t think there’s anything wrong with being a gym bunny if you enjoy it, I just think we should all be able to be who we are without anyone judging us 🙂 Those endorphins do rock though!

Great post Debbie! I live in Greece and the gyms are filling up! But there are just as many people who don’t care and some of them with healthy full bodies who wear bikinis because they want to get a tan. Your observations are on point. I think it is just a marketing ploy to make us all feel as if we have to look a certain way. What ever happened to diversity? I am hosting a new link party called Sweet Inspiration and would love to have you join us. It runs Friday till Tuesday.
Debbie, My Random Musings
Thank you 🙂 That’s great that people are confident and wear whatever they want! Exactly, we should be able to just be ourselves! I’ll try and get over on Friday, will you tweet me because I’m sure to forget!
Yvonne
Well said. I am very guilty of getting hung up on being ready to brave the beach but I doubt anyone else notices or cares xx
Debbie, My Random Musings
Thank you 🙂 I’m the same, then I try to remind myself that no one is looking at me, they are too busy having fun! x
The Silver Fox
Great advice!

Thank you 🙂

I just throw on some sunless tanner in the days leading up to it. Tan = toned! Of course, that doesn’t help the extra thickness… But I tend to not spend too much time in a bathing suit and I’ve found unless you’re attractive, most people don’t even look at you at the beach. (Or anywhere else!)
Debbie, My Random Musings
Yes, having a nice tan definitely helps you feel more confident I find (not that I would know, I’m so pasty I glow in the dark lol). That’s a good point too!

Congratulations on being shortlisted, Debbie! I love this post. Every now and again we need to have someone give us that message that we are beautiful whatever our shape, size or skin tone.
THanks for sharing. #TwinklyTUesday

Thank you 🙂 Yes, it can be easy to forget sometimes, and just having reaffirmed is always a good thing!

Great message. I do love the beach. I don’t necessarily want to look like a magazine model because they don’t even look like that either but I want to be comfortable in my skin. I do agree we shouldn’t avoid the beach just because we don’t live up what seems like the ideal now. I admire the people who seem comfortable with themselves on the beach.
Debbie, My Random Musings
Thank you 🙂 I think we should aim to be the best versions of ourselves, not try to be like someone else. I do too, there’s some people that really look like they couldn’t care less what anyone thinks, that’s so liberating.

I agree. Having a beach body literally involves two things. 1.) having a body and 2.) being on a beach. Anything more than that is too much hassle! #effitfriday
Debbie, My Random Musings
That’s exactly it and yeah it would definitely be a hassle doing much else!
Laura @ Life with Baby Kicks
Exactly this Debbie. I wobble a lot more but it doesn’t stop me throwing on a bikini and getting in the water with the boys. I try to exercise for my health, for the way I look, most importantly For me’!
Debbie, My Random Musings
That’s great Laura, splashing around with the boys should be about having fun, not sucking your tummy in and worrying what people think!
