Welcome to this week’s Blogger Spotlight, a series that showcases some of the newest blogs around. This week, I am pleased to welcome Yvette from Ranting Gran.
1 Firstly, tell us a little bit about yourself
Hi, my name is Yvette and I am a grandmother to 6 gorgeous grandchildren. As a mature student I gained 2 degrees, one in Business one in Marketing
2 What is your blog’s name and what is it about?
My blog is called Ranting Gran, as I tend to go on a bit about bad/good customer service and the crazy things that seem to constantly happen wherever we go.
3 Why did you decide to start a blog?
I initially started as part of an assignment about the buyer behaviour process, which I really enjoyed so a few years later I decided to start a blog of my own.
4 Do you have any goals for your blog?
I did have lots of different goals but just recently I seem to have lost my mojo and am struggling to decide on content
5 Tell us one random fact about you
I am totally obsessed with Disney
6 What is the best piece of blog related advice you have received so far?
Find your tribe, I can see why I need a tribe and how it would benefit me, however as yet I have not found it.
7 What is your favourite thing about blogging?
My favourite thing varies with my ever changing mood but I always love getting positive comments
8 Is there anything you would do differently if you were starting over knowing what you know now?
I would think more carefully about the name, everyone that knows me says the name is me to a T, but I think the name gives the wrong impression, I would love to change it but cannot face starting from the beginning again,
9 Anything else you’d like to share with us?
Not surprisingly I would love to be an ambassador for Disney

write from the heart, not simply stuff that it seems people would want to read, and you’ll be back in the saddle in no time. I’ve had second thoughts about my name also, my blog ended up totally different from what I first thought it would be. In the end, I don’t think people pay as much attention to that as they do to what you have to say. #anythinggoes
I totally agree with all of this. If someone likes your blog, I don’t they really mind what it’s called
Hi Yvette, good to link up and hear a bit about you. I agree with other people’s comments – keep the name! I was immediately drawn to it. I don’t think for a moment anyone will just expect you to be one dimensional and rant all the time, but it makes you stand out from all us bloggers with ‘mum’ in our name! You are an inspiration and I totally love your name! My blog is called Rambles, Rants, & Writings Blog. I’m tellling you this so that I can explain why it’s me: I’m either rambling on or having a good rant – plus I love to write lol. There were times when I questioned my name, but 18 months on, I love it! It’s me! I don’t think everyone will assume ranting is all you do, or consider this negatively. It can be hard to feel stuck in a rut with writing and I also went through a period of time in some of March, April and then linking into May, when I was stuck in a rut with my blogging and writing. I found that creative practice helped me in an attempt to get back to normal. #BloggerClubUK
I love the name too. I went through a phase of wanting to change mine as well, I think we all do at some point!

Oh I love the name too! Lovely to hear a little more about you. I find that some weeks when I find it harder to come up with material that I read and read and read papers, magazines other blogs, listen in on conversations in a cafe, hairdressers etc and then jot anything down that comes to mind – It’s amazing how much material is right in front of you sometimes. Ooh, it was the name, Ranting Gran, that made me want to look at this post. I too can be a ranting gran. There are probably a whole tribe of ranting grans ready to follow you – we could have t-shirts and everything with it on lol.

I like the name and it’s clear from the way you write, that it’s a funny look at life! As a newbie to blogging, finding my tribe is definitely something I’m trying to work on. I have to admit, I started as a bit of an experiment and only expected my friends to read it! Now, it’s much bigger than I imagined, so a tribe is definitely welcomed for support and laughs!

I feel the same about my blog name as well so you’re not alone in that! As for content, just write whatever comes to your mind. I have random in my blog name for that reason because I can’t stick to just one type of post. I have to write what inspires me. My mood changes all the time too and that’s how I go with the flow of my writing. It’s great getting to know you! #bloggerclubuk

We all love a good rant! The name is unique and memorable so I don’t think you should worry about that. I think everyone loses their mojo from time to time, I’m sure inspiration will strike when you’re least expecting it.

This is such a nice feature – I do so enjoy getting to know other bloggers more. I’m sure most people have name wobbles at some point, after all we live with them all the time and sometimes people miss the point or maybe the point isn’t clear anyway…regardless of that waffle (that’s clearly more about my name than yours!) Ranting Gran is an awesome name! I’m glad you’re not changing it! As for the lack of a blogging mojo, I think we all get it from time to time, I know I do! I find being organised is key. Get stuff written & scheduled when you do have your mojo & it takes the pressure off. It’s certainly helped me!
