This week, we have The Laughing Mum taking part in the Blogger Spotlight interview.
If you would like to take part, and your blog is under six months old, or has been re-launched in the last six months, please email me randommusings29@gmail.com
1 Firstly, tell us a little bit about yourself
Hi, I’m The Laughing Mum, I am the proud (sometimes when they are not being little s**ts) mother of 2 daughters, The Teen and The PreTeen, and loving (when he’s not being a big s**t) wife to the grumpy husband. Living an idyllic life as housewife/sahm in a recently purchased forever home out in the sticks.
2 What is your blog’s name and what is it about?
The Laughing Mum blog is basically about my life, the joys of parenting older kids, being a stay at home mum and wife, and everything in between. It’s (hopefully) quite a funny blog, that lets the readers into my life in a real way, no airs and graces and no fairy tale endings… Just funny endings that often involve wine!
3 Why did you decide to start a blog?
I decided to start the blog after lunch with my sister one day. My kids are hilarious (no, honestly they are) and I was telling the sister a story about something the teen had said, and she replied that every time she sees us she is always in hysterics, and I should write a book about my life with my kids, and so I thought I would start with a blog! Plus, I adore writing, and it’s really easy to write about your own real life stories isn’t it?
4 Do you have any goals for your blog?
At this point my blog is only 1 month old, so I haven’t really thought much further than getting my 100’s of stories into posts and just hopefully making people laugh. I have seen lots of ways people are really getting their blogs out there, reviews etc and maybe one day I might head down that route, but as I blog anonymously I think that might be difficult. But, you never know, I might actually put my face to the name one day. Although I think my daughters might kill me if I did. They have no idea I’m telling the world all about them haha!
5 Tell us one random fact about you
I have had a cookbook published! Yep, I can cook! I don’t of course, but I can!
6 What is the best piece of blog related advice you have received so far?
I haven’t really received any advice so far, although I have been reading that it’s rather important to keep your social media presence constant (which in itself is a full time job) but I have been making some lovely new friends. It’s weird how you find yourself drawn in so much to strangers, but I love it! The parenting blogging community is tight!
7 What is your favourite thing about blogging?
Writing! And the reading.. I have lost so many hours to reading others blogs, its unreal! It’s so easy to get caught up in reading blog after blog after blog, especially if you participate in Link Ups. I have cried with laughter at some posts, the funny ones are the ones that I revisit the most. After all life is always far more enjoyable with laughter!
8 Is there anything you would do differently if you were starting over knowing what you know now?
Yes! I think I was a bit ambitious at the start, I had several pages built on my site without really thinking through how much content I would need to provide, and how I would be able to do so much so soon, so I’ve been messing around with that a bit and trying to focus on one thing at a time. It will evolve when its ready.
9 Anything else you’d like to share with us?
I’d really just quite like to say thank you! Everyone I have interacted with in the last month since I started has been super friendly and really amazing! I’m really looking forward to getting to know everyone more and enjoying my blogging journey! Oh, and if you have any tips for me then feel free to get in touch and let me know haha!
