Is your work space becoming too dull and you can’t seem to concentrate on work? Are you tired of the lack of freshness around your office seat?
One of the best ways to boost the look of your cubicle while making it much livelier is to place plants. Plants not only provide a breath of fresh air at work, but they also lighten up the place with their green colour.
However, when it is time to pick the best plants for your work space, it is important to consider low-maintenance options so that you can keep them thriving without a lot of struggle. In order to turn your cubicle into a wellness spot, below we have listed the top 5 low maintenance plants that everyone should consider buying for their work space.
1. Lemon Balm
If you are in search of an indoor office plant that is fragrant, mood-boosting, and low-maintenance, you must get your hands on some lemon balm. This plant also thrives without sunlight, which is why it is great for cubicles away from windows or natural light. Lemon balm is also known to boost mood and spread positivity in the space it is placed in. However, you need to ensure that you plant it in a small pot that is appropriate for your office cubicle. You must also get rich potting soil and keep the plant hydrated at all times to ensure that your lemon balm is healthy.
2. Pothos
Pothos is another great cubicle plant that you can place on your table without worrying too much about its maintenance or size. What makes pothos an ideal office plant is that it doesn’t require a lot of natural light, making it perfect for spaces where natural light is not present. This plant also contains attractive heart-shaped leaves that add to the aesthetic appeal of your office space, keeping you feeling happy and positive.
3. Spider Plant
If you are looking for an office plant that is both great for boosting mood and adding to the appearance of your space, you must consider getting a spider plant. The name of this plant is given to it due to its spider like hanging leaves that add beauty to any space. Furthermore, this plant is very low-maintenance, which means that it can easily grow without sunlight. Research suggests that this plant improves indoor air quality and reduces work-related stress, making employees feel fresh and happy.
4. Snake Plant
Just like the spider plant, the snake plant is also another attractive green beauty that you can add to your cubicle and enjoy a fresh breath of air all day long. This plant contains sword-like leaves that grow rapidly length-wise. It is also easy-to-maintain and adds beauty to the office space.
5. Cactus
Due to its unusual appearance, the cactus is one of the most loved plants for indoor spaces, especially offices. If you want to place a low-maintenance and easy-to-handle plant in your cubicle, the cactus plant would be a great choice. However, make sure you place it in a safe spot where the thorns do not hurt you or any of your office mates.

This made me think of the movie Desk Set. They had this huge plant that grew around the entire office. That they thought they were going to have to move when they thought they were losing their jobs.

I haven’t seen it, sounds like a big task though!

I need this. I love plants but I am so crap at keeping them alive – low maintenance sounds great. #bloggerclubuk

I need to get some Lemon Balm, sounds great. I’m not great at maintenance of plants, so low maintenance is good. Thanks! #bloggerclubuk

I agree – the lower maintenance the better for me 🙂
The Tale of Mummyhood
I love to see house plants, they make the place look so much more inviting. I am however rubbish at keeping them alive, so this list is perfect for me!

I would never have thought of a snake plant if I’m honest, I’m usually a bunch of flowers for a week until they die off kinda gal but now that my room & workspace is all cleared up and redecorated I’m looking for something more long term. I thought of a cactus but my cat has a habit of sticking his face in them! Not ideal. Great post. #BloggerClubUK

I love cactuses, and I’ve haven’t managed to kill one off yet lol. Definitely not great for your cat though!

I think you have to be so careful with indoor plants, because they can just be dust collectors! So this post was really good. I love the idea of Lemon Balm. I did house sit for two weeks once and watered a plastic plant…oops. Stained floor and cross owner! I don’t have a great track record 🙂 Alison x #BloggerClubUK

I always had a plant on my desk when I was in the office. Now I work in my conservatory so I’m right there by the garden. It makes such a difference to your mood having a plant on your desk. I woud have never thought of Lemon Balm though. Lovely. #BloggerClubUk

I love having plants around, but I tend to accidentally kill house plants!
Coombe Mill
I think I am actually killing my spider plant, it is going quite brown and they are supposed to withstand anything! Lemon balm sounds a nice one #BloggerclubUK
Debbie, My Random Musings
Oh dear, spider plants are pretty indestructible lol 🙂
Coffee & Bubbles
We have spider plants in our office. They seem to be indestructible, however I have a severe inability to keep plants alive. I literally think I’d find a way to kill a plastic plant! #BloggerClubUK
Debbie, My Random Musings
I’m the same with plants haha spider plants do tend to thrive well though 🙂
Emma

Me too lol 🙂

Hi Debbie, I would love to have plants indoors, but I am a hopeless gardener. We do however have plenty of cactus on our balcony, that thrive with the heat and neglect.
Lemon balm does sound nice for indoors, but I think it would dry out in our rather hot environment, but my parents do have a spider plant that is thriving. And I’ve asked nicely for a baby of two when it has some, hopefully I’ll have some luck with those indoors.
xx

I’m the same – I’m ok with outdoors plants, but indoors ones just die on me lol. I think spider plants are pretty indestructible 🙂 x
Cheryl @ Tea or Wine
This is good to know! I love having lots of indoor plants but can never seem to keep most of them alive!! Will check out the lemon balm! #BloggerClubUk X

Thank you 🙂 I’m the same! x

Lovely plant choices! Especially the lemon balm and cactus. Cacti have to be one of the easiest plants to keep and are also interesting to look at, you’re right about their popularity! We haven’t got our office yet but these would be lovely plants just for brightening the house, I love the hint of green that most easy-to-keep plant bring to a room
Debbie, My Random Musings
I love houseplants, but tend to stick with a cactus or two because I do have a habit of killing anything else!
Silly Mummy
I don’t have a work space, but low maintenance plants are the only type of plant I can do anywhere! Big fan of cacti! #BloggerClubUK
Debbie, My Random Musings
Same here! Even I can’t kill a cactus (well I haven’t yet lol)
