I know I said I was no longer posting on weekends, but I am too excited about this news to wait until Monday to share it with you all.
The Joker, my first novel, is available now on Amazon! It’s available as a paper book or an eBook, and it is free to Kindle Unlimited users.
I still can’t believe it’s actually happened. It’s one of those things I’ve always wanted to do, but never really thought I would get around to. Actually, that’s not strictly true. I always thought I would write a novel, I just didn’t really think I would ever have the confidence to publish it.
But here it is. I now look at it as what’s the worst thing that can happen?
Maybe no one reads it – I’ve already put the time into writing it, and although obviously I do want people to read it, if they don’t I haven’t lost anything.
Maybe it gets negative feedback – No one wants negative feedback, but it’s not the end of the world. It’s only someone’s opinion, and we can’t all like the same things – how boring would that be? Plus, I always think of E L James (who wrote 50 Shades of Grey). She got absolutely torn apart with negative feedback. She also had four bestselling books and a movie franchise, so maybe negative feedback isn’t the worst thing in the world.
Anyway, that’s enough babble from me. Below is the blurb from the back cover telling you a little more about what the book is about:
The Joker
When Kayleigh and her friends do a Ouija board one drunken night, they have no idea the horror they are inviting into their lives. When two of her best friends die in mysterious circumstances, and her boyfriend becomes possessed by a seductive demon, Kayleigh starts seeking answers.
What she learns fills her with dread, and after finding little help from a local priest, she takes matters into her own hands.
Kayleigh must choose between love and morality or power and her deepest desires in this twisted tale that shows that sometimes, the unknown is best left unknown…
If you’ve ever dreamt of writing your own novel, the best advice I could give anyone would be go for it. But stay tuned through August for loads of tips on writing and publishing.

You know that I’m currently writing a few novels and an ebook but I haven’t had the time to really focus on any of them and I have mixed feelings about publishing them. I would love to publish them but haven’t done much research into how to actually get that done. I have one novel that I started in 2006 that still isn’t finished yet. I’m thinking about posting a few of the chapters on my blog to see how people would respond to it. I’m a bit of a perfectionist with my writing so I want my books to be exactly what I want them to be before I try to publish but that’s the biggest thing that has been holding me back. Any advise on that? I ordered your book already and can’t wait to read it! Thanks for hosting #anythinggoes
Debbie, My Random Musings
I think with regards to wanting it to be perfect, the only way to really guarantee that is to pay a professional editor, and even then mistakes get missed. You could maybe ask a trusted friend to proof read it, it’s always easier to spot mistakes in other people’s stuff than your own.
With regards to the actual publishing process, I have some posts lined up for later in the month with some hints and tips for publishing.
Thank you so much, I really hope you like it 🙂
