This week, we have Kel from School Runs and Shopping Trolleys taking part in the Blogger Spotlight interview.
If you would like to take part, and your blog is under six months old, or has been re-launched in the last six months, please email me randommusings29@gmail.com
1 Firstly, tell us a little bit about yourself
I’m Kel and I’m almost 20 – twice! I live in Birmingham with The Hubby and my two children, Big – 9 and Small – 4. I have recently become a stay-at-home mum after giving up my job in child care to be a full-time carer for Small, who is autistic.
2 What is your blog’s name and what is it about?
School Runs and Shopping Trolleys – it’s a place for my ramblings about life as a SAHM and the title is meant to reflect what my life revolves around now!
3 Why did you decide to start a blog?
I already blog about life with an autistic child (www.itsatinkthing.com) and find writing cathartic and something other people tell me I do well, so when I found myself voluntarily unemployed, I began this blog as a way to document how it’s going.
4 Do you have any goals for your blog?
At the moment, I’d just like people to read it other than my parents! Eventually I think I’d like it to become a source of income, but I have a lot to learn yet, so I’m happy just writing and reviewing!
5 Tell us one random fact about you
I can get my fist in my mouth!
6 What is the best piece of blog related advice you have received so far?
Stay true to yourself. Don’t try to write unless it’s honest and from the heart.
7 What is your favourite thing about blogging?
Connecting with others! Other bloggers, other readers, other parents, other ‘special needs’ parents. I like the freedom it gives me to talk about things that matter to me – as well as spouting some absolute drivel!
8 Is there anything you would do differently if you were starting over knowing what you know now?
I think I’d spend time on really trying to get my blog looking how I’d like it. I rushed it at the start (as I wanted to join in with ‘Blogtober’) and now I’m trying to tweak things, try out different themes etc, but I’m terrified of losing everything or messing it up!
9 Anything else you’d like to share with us?
Overall, I have found the blogging community I have joined very welcoming and supportive. Although there are so many of us out there, there is a genuine feeling of camaraderie and wanting to help each other rather than the rivalry that might be expected. So, fellow bloggers, thank you!
