I’m a big fan of Mandasue Heller’s writing, so when her publishers contacted me to ask if I would like to review Run as part of her blog tour, I was happy to say yes.
Run is out now and you can order your copy here.
Run by Mandasue Heller
Blurb from The Back Cover
After being cheated on by her ex, Leanne Riley is trying her hardest to get her life back on track, which isn’t easy without a job and living in a bedsit surrounded by a junkie and a mad woman.
On a night out with her best friend, she meets Jake, a face from her past who has changed beyond all recognition. Charming, handsome and loaded, Jake is a far cry from the gawky teenager he used to be. Weary of men, Leanne isn’t easy to please, but Jake tries his best to break through the wall she’s built around herself.
But good looks and money can hide a multitude of sins. What will it take to make the mask slip, and who will die in the process…?
My Thoughts on The Book
Run isn’t a typical crime book, and it’s a long way from being a typical romance book. It combines the two genres, twists them up together and spits them out in a combination that works perfectly.
Mandasue knows Manchester (where the book is set) and it shows. She knows the estates and the type of people that live on them. Her characters are well written and fit the life she gives them. She uses straight talking words and this really sets the tone for her novel.
As the story builds, you just know it’s not going to be a happily ever after ending, but you can’t stop turning the pages to see how badly Leanne’s world will crash and burn.
Conclusion and Rating
Run does a great job of getting your attention and keeping it. Mandasue has a way of making you care about the characters and rooting for them (even the ones that you might not have liked all that much at first).
If you like realistic characters that have had a tough life, combined with plenty of action, you’ll love Run. 5/5

One of my personal New Years resolutions is to read at least one book a month. I used to read so much but struggle to find the time now. I’m almost finished my January book and have two I recently purchased lined up but I’m now on the look at for what else I can read!
This one sounds right up my street!

Intrigued after reading your review. I like writers that show the good and bad in different characters as few of us are good all the time.
