This week, we have Rochelle from Twinkins taking part in the Blogger Spotlight interview.
If you would like to take part, and your blog is under six months old, or has been re-launched in the last six months, please email me randommusings29@gmail.com
1 Firstly, tell us a little bit about yourself
Hello! My name is Rochelle, and I am a 23 year old mummy to 2 gremlins. I mean adorable twins who are 2 years old.
Born and raised in London, I now live in Bedfordshire in my 1st floor apartment. I graduated from University last year with a Psychology degree, and I will soon be studying in Fashion merchandising and buying.
2 What is your blog’s name and what is it about?
My still very new blog is called Twinkins. I just thought it sounded short and cute.
I aimed my blog to really have a fashion influence as that’s what I’m really passionate about, but realised it’s not so easy to solely focus on children’s fashion so there is a wide mix of lifestyle related posts now. I also love minimalism in all aspects of my life, whether that be financially, home décor, fashion etc. so I like to talk about that, and sharing my experiences raising twins as a single parent.
3 Why did you decide to start a blog?
I’ve loved writing since I was a young girl, writing poems, songs, scripts the works! I was always on my computer as a kid, even when we didn’t have internet I was on it writing something.
I had been contemplating whether starting a blog was something I wanted to do for sooo long. I would be watching blogging related youtube videos long before I even published my first post. I felt like I needed to know everything first, but then I just said to myself stop having excuses, and just do it. It’s not going to be perfect but you learn as you go along. And I started it whilst in my final year of my Psychology degree.
4 Do you have any goals for your blog?
I have many to be honest. I split them up into short, medium and long term goals I am aiming to work towards. You can check that out here and try and hold me accountable please! But the overall goal I would love to be making a good income in years to come that is the big dream. But for now, I would like to interact more with other bloggers, and I aim to always inspire, entertain and inform with every post I publish.
5 Tell us one random fact about you
Hmmm probably the fact that I lived in Hong Kong for a year as part of my study abroad. I was able to practice my Chinese language skills, and I have a great love for the Chinese culture so it was one of the best experiences of my life.
6 What is the best piece of blog related advice you have received so far?
Learn to batch! It is the best thing I learnt since I started. It’s the main thing that’s stopped me from quitting so many times, because I have posts scheduled so I don’t need to feel like I’m burning out too soon. Now I’m just trying to get it into a routine.
7 What is your favourite thing about blogging?
I love interacting with new people online. Reading positive comments people leave me is a really nice feeling too. Being a Stay-at-home-mum and single parent means I don’t really interact with many people other than my kids, and close friends and family daily via my phone. It’s nice to make friends online, and share my experiences with a community that can relate.
8 Is there anything you would do differently if you were starting over knowing what you know now?
I would probably have invested in a good camera so I’d be better at taking photos by now, and editing them too. I never realised how important photography was. I’m attracted to blogs that have great images so it is definitely something I would like to improve. I’m using a pretty crappy digital one at the moment, but I am saving up for a better one, hopefully soon!
9 Anything else you’d like to share with us?
I aim to blog every Monday and Friday at 6am weekly and more when I have more to say, so do check out my blog and feel free to comment, share and follow my journey.
