This week, we have Rachael from Kids About Jersey taking part in the Blogger Spotlight interview.
If you would like to take part, and your blog is under six months old, or has been re-launched in the last six months, please email me randommusings29@gmail.com
1 Firstly, tell us a little bit about yourself
A big hello from me, Rachael. I’m a 44 year old Mum to 6 year old daughter Mia. Also Wifey & general keeper of Matt, aged 39½. We live in & love Jersey, Channel Islands in all its 9 x 5 mile beauty. I’ve just left the Communications company where I worked for 20 years in pursuit of that pretty elusive home/work balance.
2 What is your blog’s name and what is it about?
I’ve recently launched ‘Kids About Jersey’. I created the blog & social media pages to share all that is great for & about children & families in Jersey. I also plan to showcase ‘family know-how’ titbits, like great little products to help you shortcut family life & tips for getting that quality family night’s sleep!
3 Why did you decide to start a blog?
Listening to the word on the Jersey street, or should I say playground, families seem to rely heavily on word of mouth or multiple Google or Facebook searches to find local info. So my aim is to have a one-stop shop for all things ‘Jersey Family’.
4 Do you have any goals for your blog?
I’d love for local families to think ‘Kids About Jersey’ when looking for anything from that amazingly tolerant cafe serving decent kiddie food to fab outdoor places to build a secret den & all things in between.
5 Tell us one random fact about you
As my family goes back for many generations in Jersey & I do not have any link to the UK, I have a stamp in my passport to say that I am not eligible to work in the EU…Oh ok then, I’ll just have to stay in my favourite place in the world! :o)
6 What is the best piece of blog related advice you have received so far?
All too new for me to have received much in the way of blog advice. However, the tip that I have already heard over & over again is to make everything online look beautiful.
7 What is your favourite thing about blogging?
My favourite & probably the most dangerous thing about blogging is the research. You know what it’s like when you have a ‘quick read’ of a useful article & then come up for air hours later from that social media rabbit hole. Nothing like the feeling from happily burrowing for many an hour though!
8 Is there anything you would do differently if you were starting over knowing what you know now?
Nothing different so far as it’s all shiny & new. However, I’d so welcome tips from all you lovely bloggers out there!
9 Anything else you’d like to share with us?
I’d love to hear from Channel Islander bloggers as I feel a little bit lonely down here. Please do get in touch fellow Islanders!
If you’d like to find out more about Jersey, pop over to www.jersey.com or search for @visitjerseyci or #jerseyci (the ‘ci’ bit is important as otherwise you’ll end up in New Jersey, USA!)
