This week, we have Amandeep from Mummy Setra taking part in the Blogger Spotlight interview.
If you would like to take part, and your blog is under six months old, or has been re-launched in the last six months, please email me randommusings29@gmail.com
1 Firstly, tell us a little bit about yourself
My name is Amandeep, I’m in my 30’s and live in Hertfordshire with my husband and 6 month old baby boy. I’m currently on maternity leave from my job as a hospital pharmacist, enjoying playing mum to our little man. My hobbies used to be going on luxury holidays, eating at nice restaurants and spa days……. These days I enjoy going for long walks, cooking, watching a good Netflix series, and curling up on the sofa with a cup of tea!
2 What is your blog’s name and what is it about?
My blog is called MummySetra (www.mummysetra.com) and is about everything baby and me! Prior to being a mum I was always busy in my career and always had a new challenge on my hands. Becoming a mum 6 months ago was life changing, but I still wanted something to keep me busy “for me”, so thought a blog would be the perfect project!
3 Why did you decide to start a blog?
I started a blog as I needed something for me after our little man was born – something that kept my mind ticking, but meant I could have a platform to reach out to other parents. During the first few months, reading blog posts was what kept me going through those night feeds, so I thought I’d join the blogging community myself. Plus, it meant that I was actually still writing, and not just communicating in baby language day to day!
4 Do you have any goals for your blog?
As any blogger will probably say, I’d love for my blog to grow in terms of popularity and success. My main goal however is that I would love for someone to tell me that I have helped or inspired them with my advice / posts.
5 Tell us one random fact about you
I only learnt to swim 5 years ago.
Myself and my husband were going to Australia and I really wanted to be confident in the water and go snorkelling. So, my husband taught me and that was that! I’ve since also dived, and now will make sure my little boy learns whilst he is a child!
6 What is the best piece of blog related advice you have received so far?
To be true to myself and my beliefs, and not to change my views based on what I think people would like to hear.
7 What is your favourite thing about blogging?
I love being able to switch off from being mum when writing my blog posts (ironic as most of them are currently about my parenting experiences), and having something for “me” – my own little project!
Also, the only person who knows I blog is my husband, so it’s nice having a secret life!
8 Is there anything you would do differently if you were starting over knowing what you know now?
I have just gone self hosted, and I wish I’d just done it from the start, but, at the time I didn’t know how much I’d enjoy blogging.
I also wish I’d written things down as and when I thought about content, as thanks to baby brain I forget things very quickly these days!
9 Anything else you’d like to share with us?
A quote – “ Parenting is the easiest thing in the world to have an opinion about, but the hardest thing in the world to do”
