April is here again and it’s time for this year’s A to Z Challenge. This year, my theme is motivational quotes. Each Monday to Saturday throughout April I will be posting a motivational quote each day starting with the letters A through to Z.
It’s traditional through the challenge to keep posts short and sweet, so that’s what I’ll be doing. Just a quick explanation of why I chose each quote and what it means to me.
Day 3 – C
“Change is inevitable; growth is optional”
So many people fear change. Yet it change is happening every day all around us. As technology improves, and advances are made every day in every scientific field, change is happening. The world around us is changing every day whether we like it or not.
Instead of fearing change, we should embrace it and grow with it. If we resist change, and refuse to grow, the world will still change, and one day, we will find ourselves stuck in a decade long past, lost and alone in a brave new world.
If instead we choose to embrace the change, or at the very least accept it and grow with it, then we might just find that actually change isn’t so bad. It can actually be a good thing as we develop and grow as people.
In our professional lives, we will find it very difficult to be successful if we resist change and refuse to grow.
Are you someone who resists change or someone who embraces it? Do you make an effort to grow as a person? Let me know in the comments 🙂
Don’t forget to check back every Monday to Saturday to see the next motivational quote!

Great quote. When change is happening all around you and you stubbornly choose to stay put, that’s exactly what you’ll do. Stay put. Onward!

Thank you 🙂 I agree – you’ll never go anywhere and that’s not good for anyone!

Change was always such a hard thing for me to cope with (I’m a very lineal person) but as I’ve come to accept the fact that change happens regardless, I now find that embracing it (gently) makes life a lot smoother and a lot less stressful!

I totally resonate with you! This is exactly my feeling!
Debbie, My Random Musings
I’m really glad you’ve found a way to embrace it – fighting it sure is stressful!
Julie @ Reading Life
I do not deal well with change. I like things to stay the same. I’m very Type A and like to feel in control.
I’m trying to accept that changes happen but it is hard. Good topic!
Debbie, My Random Musings
It can be hard, but I really think it’s worth it!

I wish that one day I will appreciate change instead of trying to outrun it…Great “C”!
Debbie, My Random Musings
I’m sure you will 🙂
Geraint
Gotta embrace it. Don’t always like it, but definitely embrace it. I moved halfway around the world for a change … still not sure if I fully liked me it 10 years later.
Debbie, My Random Musings
That sounds very freeing!
J.H. Moncrieff
Awesome topic, Debbie, and well said. I not only embrace change, I tend to create it. I’m not happy staying in one place (metaphorically) for too long.
Debbie, My Random Musings
Thank you 🙂 Creating change is even better – it’s being in charge of your own destiny
Bev
Great quote?
Duncan
People react differently to change. Some embrace it, some are intimidated by it
Debbie, My Random Musings
It’s a shame when change isn’t embraced as fighting it is usually futile
Eileen Doyon
great read!!! we as people buck change, but it is the best thing for us…and change does happen every day to us whether we realize it or not and most times…after awhile….we realize..omg…should have done this years ago or that this was the best thing for us!! thank you for reminder!
Debbie, My Random Musings
You’re right – often we don’t notice things changing at all until we look back and see how far we have come
Jz
Even if you hate change, growth is the only way to make something good come from it…
(Or that’s what I tell myself, anyhow!)
Debbie, My Random Musings
I think so too!
Philipa (Ozzypip)
hmmmm not really sure. I would like to think that I embrace change… but probably only so long as it was of my choosing to be honest. Sometimes I get to be dragged kicking and screaming into the new now. My kids have made choices and changes that haven’t been what I would have chosen for them… and sometimes whilst I have never rejected them and have tried to lovingly accept their choices I haven’t always been happy.. But then I love them and they have continued to love me so guess I must have worked it out somehow
Debbie, My Random Musings
It’s definitely hard when things change in a way you didn’t want them to. I’m glad you learned to adapt

The only thing that is constant in the world is change!!
Cheers

So true!
Shilpa Garg
True, change is happening every day all around us. We need to embrace it for it helps us to step out of our comfort zone. And when we do that, it paves the path for our growth and development.
Debbie, My Random Musings
I totally agree – if we won’t change, we can’t grow

Change can be scary, but I try not to let that fear stop me from doing something new.
The graffiti is beautiful.

Debbie, My Random Musings
It can really be scary, but sometimes fear is a good thing as it motivates us to make it work!
Shari Elder
Another good one. I like to embrace change as a value, not as something that just happens.
Debbie, My Random Musings
Thank you 🙂 Great way to think of it
Donna McNicol
Great post, I’m going to enjoy reading this each day.
Debbie, My Random Musings
Really pleased you’re enjoying the posts 🙂

Things change whether we want them to or not–how we handle that directs how that change affects us.
Debbie, My Random Musings
I agree – if we fight change. we’re more likely to be miserable!
Emily
You can’t avoid change, so you may as well embrace it!
Debbie, My Random Musings
Exactly!

Wow Debbie! After the month is over, I am sure you are going to leave many people inspired!
Great work!

I hope so!

I do resent some changes, but nowhere near all. I mostly bemoan what I see as negative changes, like when so many people make grammatical errors, the dictionary eventually validates such goofs by imposing new rules that allow those mistakes. Examples? “Literally” can now mean either “literally” or “figuratively.” And “imply” and “infer” can be used interchangeably. “
Debbie, My Random Musings
Yeah I’m with you on that one – I hate it when people use literally wrong and it only encourages misuse when its validated by dictionaries! Won’t be long until “pacifically” (another pet hate of mine) makes it into the dictionary instead of specifically!
The Silver Fox
An ex-fiancee of mine used to say “pacific” instead of “specific” all the time!
Cheryl Sterling
Change should be taught to everyone at an early age. So many people bemoan any little change in their lives. I feel so sorry for them. They’re stuck in a little world and miss so many wonderful things the world has to offer.
I embrace change. It’s inevitable, why fight it?
Debbie, My Random Musings
I agree – I think we’re taught to fear change and it has to stop

I changed careers just as I was turning forty. There were some traumatic moments, but all things considered, it has worked out very well, as I look back, over twenty years.
Debbie, My Random Musings
I changed careers just last year and it’s by far the best thing I’ve ever done!
