April is here again and it’s time for this year’s A to Z Challenge. This year, my theme is motivational quotes. Each Monday to Saturday throughout April I will be posting a motivational quote each day starting with the letters A through to Z.
It’s traditional through the challenge to keep posts short and sweet, so that’s what I’ll be doing. Just a quick explanation of why I chose each quote and what it means to me.
Day 22 – V
“Very successful people didn’t get lucky – they got to work and made it happen”
This is another thing that kind of irritates me – when people talk about someone successful and say “he/she is so lucky”. No. They aren’t lucky. They worked hard and got themselves to where they are.
This reminds me of another quote which is believed to have been first said by Thomas Jefferson: “I’m a great believer in luck. The harder I work, the luckier I get.”
If you find yourself thinking of successful people as lucky, stop it! Instead, do some research. Find out where they started and how they climbed the ladder, and then use the energy you spend talking about how lucky some people are to work on being successful yourself.
On the positive side of this, if people start saying you’re lucky, then I guess that means you’ve made it! And no matter what anyone might say, you know in your heart that luck had nothing to do with it. It was working damned hard that got you where you are today.
Do you believe that hard work or luck makes a person successful? Let me know in the comments 🙂
Don’t forget to check back every Monday to Saturday to see the next motivational quote!

There might be a little bit of luck involved – like less than 1%. The thing about luck is that you can’t rely on it, which is why you have to make things happen!
