When you first decide to start your blog, it can be pretty daunting.
One of two things tends to happen: Either you do tons of research and end up completely overwhelmed, or you do what I did, and Google “start your blog” and take the first hit.
That’s how I ended up starting my blog on Blogger – and doing everything wrong.
That awkward process you go through when you decide to start your blog is what puts off so many people, or results in people starting out the wrong way and then having to change everything up later on in the process.
And that is what inspired me to write my new eBook – Start Your Blog Like a Boss: 10 Steps to Set Yourself Up for Success.
It could just as easily be called the 10 things I screwed up and wished I hadn’t, or the 10 things I learned months after starting my blog which really held me back.
Although the book is primarily aimed at anyone looking to start a new blog, I genuinely believe it can be helpful to any newer bloggers who are still trying to get their heads around blogging.
The book covers everything you need to know from designing your site and branding through to social media promotion and choosing a blogging platform (and how to get set up on it).
Now don’t get me wrong, however you go about setting up your blog, it is so rewarding and so worth doing.
And in truth, there’s no right or wrong way – anything can later be tweaked and put right if you decide you want to start making from your blog, or be an authority voice in your field.
This book is intended as a guide to get you started the right way so that you don’t have to go in and change everything later on down the line (it’s so much harder to put things right later than it is to get set up right in the first place – believe me, I know from experience).
If you are looking for a clear, easy to follow guide that isn’t full of techy speak, then Start Your Blog Like a Boss is for you. Oh, and it’s only 99p too.

Sounds brilliant! I totally agree with how much more difficult it can make things if your online presence starts off too far from how you want it to end up. It’s really worth putting plenty of thought into it beforehand.

I think I was quite lucky with my experience. I had to set a blog up at work for my job and that kind of paved the way for my learning experience with my own blog. Although I remember the frustration when I wanted to get my logo on to my header. It took hours and then I got so stuck so I asked one of our IT geniuses at work. He did it in 2 minutes!
Debbie, My Random Musings
It’s great if you’re able to have a play around before you launch on your own. I need an IT guy lol!

I started mine when somebody tried to suck me into a pyramid scheme. $30 a month and they would help me set it up and promote. A quick google search and a bit of spite later I was up and running. There is a lot I wish I’d known sooner #anythinggoes
Debbie, My Random Musings

Oh Deborah – I did exactly the same as you. I woke and thought right today is the day I start my own blog! To be fair I did spend a lot of time googling the do’s and don’ts and thinking why hasn’t anyone written a step-by-step guide on what to do?! A great idea for a book and am sure it will be snapped up. Sorry I am late commenting but better late than never I hope! #AnythingGoes
Debbie, My Random Musings
Haha I wish I’d done that – I literally just jumped in with no idea whatsoever! Thank you and not a problem at all π

I totally did the research route….but felt like I was never gonna actually start, so one day I just paid for a domain name and just learned from there….like how I would need to self host to use the domain name I just bought lol. #bloggerclubuk

I’m a pantser. I just go with it. Reading too many ‘dos and donts’ freaks me out and makes me question everything and drives me insane. I’ll probably wish I’d read your book before long but for now I’m winging it π #BloggerClubUK
Debbie, My Random Musings
There’s nothing wrong with winging it – sometimes all the advice does make you question yourself too much!
