Are you looking for some inspiration on which show to binge watch next?
I’m always looking for recommendations, so I thought I would share the eight shows I’ve watched recently that kept me up far too late at night because I just had to know what happened next.
It was actually going to be five, but I couldn’t choose, so it’s eight.
The Vampire Diaries
I have no idea how this show managed to escape my notice for the last eight years, but somehow it did. A friend recommended I watch it on Netflix, and I admit at first I was a bit sceptical about it but I gave it a go and I was hooked after the first episode.
Twilight has single handedly put me off anything vampire related that is aimed at teens, but this redeemed the genre completely for me. The vampires don’t glitter in the sun and they don’t try to live off rabbits and deers (well at least not the good ones).
Seasons 1-7 are available on Netflix now with season 8 due around December, or get the boxset on Amazon here.
Prison Break
I watched this when it was first on, but due to the new season coming out this year, I re-watched them all and they were every bit as good the second time around.
Although this one came in second place on my list, it’s the only show I’ve ever watched where every single episode kept me gripped from start to end and something is going on every minute. (If you’re wondering, The Vampire Diaries almost hit the mark. There was only one episode I refuse to re-watch . The one where by the end of it I felt like I was trapped in a Hell stone too).
Season 1-4 are on Netflix now and season 5 is expected around April 2018, or get the boxset on Amazon here.
Orange is the New Black
There’s just something addictive about this show. I like prison dramas in general, but this one feels different somehow. It’s not as intense as most of the other shows I like but there’s still something about it that keeps me coming back for more.
Seasons 1-5 are available on Netflix now with season 6 expected early June 2018 or get the boxset on Amazon here.
Suits
Should a legal comedy work? I’m not sure, but it does.
This show is funny, but it also has a more serious side and it’s worth watching for Harvey Specter’s one liners and motivational quotes alone.
Seasons 1-6 are on Netflix now with season 7 showing one episode per week from now, or get the boxset on Amazon here.
Once Upon a Time
This is a strange show in a sense as it’s based on fairy tale characters come to life. I realise I’m not doing the show justice at all with that description.
Seriously, watch a couple of episodes and you’ll see that it’s actually really good. It’s definitely worth a watch if you fancy something a bit different with plenty of action.
All of the seasons are on Netflix now, or get the boxset on Amazon here.
The Goodwife
I loved this in the beginning and although I still enjoyed the later seasons *SPOLIER ALERT* it just wasn’t the same after Will died as he was such a central character.
It’s still worth a watch though. It mixes a legal drama with a political drama which kept me hooked pretty much all of the way through.
All of the season are on Netflix now, or get the boxset on Amazon here.
House of Cards
I love this. Apparently it’s based on a UK series, but I haven’t seen that so I can’t comment, but I love the US series.
The characters are so ruthless and you get to see politics from the other side. It may or may not be a little far-fetched at times but it’s definitely gripping.
Season 1-5 are on Netflix now with season 6 expected around June next year, or get the boxset on Amazon here.
Black Mirror
For anyone who is obsessed with social media and technology, Black Mirror is a great look at how twisted life can become when technology plays such a huge part in it.
The episodes don’t follow on so you can watch them in any order. My personal favourites are White Bear and Nosedive, although Nosedive feels a little bit too close to being a reality for some people.
All of the seasons are available on Netflix now, or get the boxset on Amazon here.
So that’s it, my top eight shows that I’ve binge watched over the last year or so. I did also love Pretty Little Liars at first, but I gave up around season five. It dragged on a bit too long and got so ridiculously far-fetched that I gave up on it.
Have you seen any of these shows? Did you enjoy them? Any recommendations for me? Let me know in the comments 🙂

I’ve been meaning to try House of Cards. I love Sherlock with Benedict Cumberbatch and Grace and Frankie with Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin is hysterical.
Debbie, My Random Musings
You should definitely give it a go! Grace and Frankie looks good 🙂

I’ve been watching Grimm recently, it’s so good.
Completely wth you on PLL, I lasted until the episodes where they’re adults and just had to stop
Debbie, My Random Musings
Oh I have Grimm on my list! I’ll have to give that one a go next I think 🙂
I’m glad I’m not the only one that thought PLL just went too far! They should have ended it before they all came back for the reunion thing

Not to worry about the vampire diaries guys glittering Debbie. That show is based off a series of books by L.J. Smith. She was one of my favorite authors when I was a teenager and I used to have every single books but 12 years ago my closet where I stored those books got flooded and all of my books I had owned since my teens were ruined. The show was great for the first four seasons. They don’t go strictly by the books either so when I watched it I really had no idea what was going to happen, which was good. I’ve also watched Once Upon a Time, and the first two seasons of Orange is the New Black. Thanks so much for hosting #anythinggoes
Debbie, My Random Musings
Normally I take the book as the “right” version but because I haven’t read any of these, I hear people talking about stuff that happened in the books and it just sounds so wrong lol but I like the fact they aren’t scared of a bit of gore haha!
The Mummy Bubble
I love House of Cards! Not tried Suits or Once yet so thanks for the recommendations. I’m always looking for something new to enjoy when I get a moment of peace! Xx #BloggerClubUK
Debbie, My Random Musings
Both are great, enjoy!

Madeline (this Glorious Life)
Oh I love Prison Break! I recently rewatched it, and then watched the reboot when it was on and really enjoyed it which was a relief because I wasn’t quite sure how they were going to make it work! And I’m watching OINTB again at the moment, such a good programme! x #BloggerClubUK
Debbie, My Random Musings
Yeah I was worried it wouldn’t be as good but I thought they made a fab job of it x
Cherry - The Newby Tribe
I love all of these – Suits is definitely my favourite! I’ve started binge watching Switched At Birth which is supposed to be a teen thing (and I am SO far from being a teen) but it’s absolutely brilliant!!
Debbie, My Random Musings
I’ll have to give that one a try (I’m way past being a teen too but teen shows are my guilty pleasure haha)

Debbie, My Random Musings
I just might – if it’s half as good as the US one I’ll like it

Seriously, we must have the same taste when it comes to tv shows. I loved Prison break as a teenager and the good wife. I recently started watching the spin off of the good wife called the good fight and i like it too.
Debbie, My Random Musings
It sounds like we have 🙂
Jemma @popcornlunchuk
I NEED to watch Suits – have had so many people tell me how brill it is, got to shift my bum into gear (and also get Netflix – how have I not got Netflix?????!!!!) and give it a watch. Some good suggestions here, although my husband and I nearly divorced over Vampire Diaries – I wasn’t a huge fan, he was fanatical (nothing at all to do with the thin tanned women therein of course). Great idea for a post #BloggerClubUK
Debbie, My Random Musings
Suits is fab 🙂 Lol you need Netflix in your life! Yeah, I’m sure it was nothing to do with that 😉
Alan Herbert
I’m fairly sure Prison Break is the only one of these I’ve watched.
Season 5 was brilliant. Pity it was only 9 episodes long. Hopefully there will be a Season 6 and back to 20+ episodes.
#bloggerclubuk
Debbie, My Random Musings
I hope so!
