Welcome to the Blogger Spotlight Interview. This week we have Lisa from Baby Loves Travel taking part in the Blogger Spotlight interview.
If you would like to take part, and your blog is under six months old, or has been re-launched in the last six months, please email me randommusings29@gmail.com
1 Firstly, tell us a little bit about yourself
My name is Lisa. I have quite an eclectic background from a PhD in philosophy to working in human resources to running a ski chalet. And a whole lot of other stuff in between. A common theme throughout is trying to travel as much as possible.
2 What is your blog’s name and what is it about?
I have recently started the blog Baby Loves Travel. This documents my experiences travelling with my (currently) 17 month old daughter. At present we are based in a ski resort in Austria, so my current posts are focused on activities for a toddler in the snow. Next we are off to London.
3 Why did you decide to start a blog?
There were three main reasons.
First, a personal reason in that it is a good way to document memories that may otherwise be forgotten in the mists of time. Sure, you remember the big stuff, but you may not remember that walk you did a few years ago.
Secondly, to drive us to prioritise exploration and adventure. It is too easy to get stuck in your comfort zone and not get out and about.
Thirdly, to start writing again. I used to write a lot but no longer had any real need to until I started my blog.
4 Do you have any goals for your blog?
My short-term goals include building up my email list, with the longer term aim of starting a newsletter.
Also I aim to be proactive about building my following on Twitter and Instagram, along with investigating the merit of investing time in Facebook and Pinterest.
I would like to drive up my monthly page views, but I know nothing about marketing, so it is going to be a steep learning curve.
Oh, and I would like to write a couple of guest posts in the next few months.
5 Tell us one random fact about you
My most expensive pair of shoes are my Lange RX110 low volume ski boots. I’m not a typical girl with a substantial interest in shoes…
6 What is the best piece of blog related advice you have received so far?
To be honest I haven’t sought any individual advice as yet. I’ve just Googled extensively to figure out how to do things. I’m intending to attend a blogging conference shortly, so hopefully I will get lots of advice there.
7 What is your favourite thing about blogging?
I think it has made me more attentive to my surroundings. When I first started my blog, I would start to write something and realise I was missing some crucial detail. It appears that I was quite unobservant.
Now I pay much more attention to everything, just in case I want to write about it later. I am also taking lots more photos of everything which will be interesting for Daisy to look back on.
8 Is there anything you would do differently if you were starting over knowing what you know now?
I would have started sooner!
9 Anything else you’d like to share with us?
Just to say that if you are thinking about doing something – whether it be starting a blog, going on a day trip somewhere new, or jacking it all in to travel round the world with your family for a year – to go for it. With a bit of planning, anything is possible.
10 Where can we find you? (blog link and links to any social media)
My blog, Twitter, Instagram and Facebook.
