Welcome to the Blogger Spotlight Interview. This week we have Jo from Cup of Toast taking part in the Blogger Spotlight interview.
If you would like to take part, and your blog is under six months old, or has been re-launched in the last six months, please email me randommusings29@gmail.com
1 Firstly, tell us a little bit about yourself
Hi, I’m Jo. I’ve been interested in writing for as long as I can remember. I started off by writing poetry when I was just seven years old, and then developed this into writing prose too, mostly whilst I was at university. I studied English Language and Literature at the University of Liverpool, and this had a huge influence on my desire to keep writing.
2 What is your blog’s name and what is it about?
My blog is called ‘Cup of Toast’. It is a lifestyle blog, intended to reflect my passions, interests and my family life. I write about anything and everything that catches my eye.
3 Why did you decide to start a blog?
I have had blogs before, in fact I set up my very first site back in 2001! This one I hope is the mature version of all that has gone before though, and is a place for me to continue my creative thoughts and writing, whilst perhaps being of interest to others too.
4 Do you have any goals for your blog?
To have fun with it, to build an online presence, and to use and develop my writing skills at the same time.
5 Tell us one random fact about you
I am a classically trained singer!
6 What is the best piece of blog related advice you have received so far?
To enjoy it, and to ignore my stats for the first few months.
7 What is your favourite thing about blogging?
Losing myself in a world of writing. I find it very therapeutic.
8 Is there anything you would do differently if you were starting over knowing what you know now?
I would research my blog name in greater depth. I started under another name but didn’t take into consideration that it would be virtually invisible online unless you found it directly through my social media account because it didn’t match the genre of being a lifestyle blog. It had also been a registered domain name for six years and had just come back up for sale which I didn’t know at the time.
9 Anything else you’d like to share with us?
Although I have been writing on and off for years, and have had an online presence previously, I very much consider that I am new to blogging. The support that I have received not just from family and friends, but also from fellow bloggers and social media users has been overwhelming. I am so very grateful to each and every person who has taken the time to read a post or watch an Instagram story, and give me feedback.
10 Where can we find you? (blog link and links to any social media)
