As I think you all know by now, this past weekend, I attended Blog On Xmas. It was a hectic weekend from start to end, and having somewhere to chill out and relax was essential. I stayed in the Holiday Inn Manchester West and they didn’t let me down.
Here are some details of a lovely stay:
Arrival
On arrival at the hotel, I was greeted by a friendly receptionist who got me quickly checked in and gave me information about breakfast times, dinner times, bar times and room service. He gave me directions to my room, and being that I’m someone who can get lost in an empty room, they were good as I found the room really easily.
My Room
I stayed in an executive suite on the second floor. The room was tastefully decorated and had everything I needed to make my stay comfortable.
As well as everything you’d expect from a hotel room, the room had two bottles of water, a fruit bowl, a Kit-Kat, ample tea, coffee and hot chocolate making supplies, a kettle, a fridge, an iron and ironing board and a hair dryer.
The wardrobe was a good size and had plenty of hangers, something I often find hotels overlook.
In the bathroom where all the toiletries you would need for a weekend stay and there was also a note saying if you needed anything else to let them know which I thought was a lovely touch.
The bed was comfy and I was very impressed with the four gorgeous fluffy pillows. There was also a lovely white robe.
The room was lovely and quiet and I couldn’t hear any traffic noise from the street or noise from other guests. I was also really impressed with the very thick curtains which kept the room lovely and dark for a good night’s sleep.
The room was very well cleaned. Even though I was only there for two nights, housekeeping came in and made the bed and replaced all of the towels which was fantastic for such a short stay.
Food and Drink
I didn’t try the drinks from the bar (except a bottle of Coke which hardly counts) but the prices were really reasonable – not much dearer than the average pub in my home town which I loved as often hotels are seriously over priced for drinks – even the mini bar prices were quite low.
The breakfast looked amazing, but as I’m not really a breakfast person, I didn’t have the full English. I did have a coffee, which was delivered quickly both mornings by a very friendly waitress. I also had a pain au chocolate which was lovely and fresh.
I tried out the room service on the Sunday night. After a long day at the conference, I just wanted to chill out in my PJs, watch some bad TV and relax.
The meal was delivered quickly, still nice and hot, and tasted great. Again, I thought the prices were good and the meal I had was brilliant value for money. £30 for a two course meal including two Cokes (one for later on) and the room service charge.
Check-Out
I was checked out of the hotel by a lovely girl who’s name I can’t remember (sorry). She was chatty and pleasant. There was a bit of confusion about the payment, but she sorted it really quickly and it wasn’t made into an issue at all. I was even offered a take-out tea or coffee to take with me.
The Staff
All of the staff members who I encountered throughout my stay where friendly and polite. The two breakfast waitressed were always on the go, greeting guests and cleaning tables plus bringing hot drinks to the guests.
The reception staff got all of the information across in an easy to understand manner and were really efficient.
The cleaning staff who I bumped into in the corridor all made a point of saying good morning which I thought was nice.
The staff here really are an asset to this hotel.
Other Information
When I first booked my stay, I asked for a one night stay for the Saturday night. After realising a couple of weeks later that I would need to stay over on the Sunday night too, a simple email sorted the situation within a couple of minutes and my stay was extended with no fuss.
The only downside to my stay (which was in no way anyone’s fault but my own) was that the hotel was a bit further away from the station than I thought it was.
This wasn’t a problem. Instead of walking to the hotel as I had originally planned, I called a cab (Street Cars) which cost around £7. I used these cabs frequently throughout the weekend and they were always on time and the drivers were all very chatty.
Overall Conclusion
This was my first time staying at a Holiday Inn and I wasn’t sure what to expect. I was really impressed with my room and the staff at this hotel and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing break in Manchester.
It has everything you will need and you will be made to feel welcome. Nothing is too much trouble here.
I would definitely stay at a Holiday Inn hotel again, and if I make Blog On again next year, this hotel will definitely be my first choice of accommodation.

Musings of a tired mummy...zzz...
I stayed at Hotel Football itself as the conference was being held there but will definitely look further afield next year #bloggerclubuk
Debbie, My Random Musings
I’d already booked my hotel before the conference moved, but it wasn’t that far away from the Hotel Football (it was actually closer to it than it was to the original venue)

It looks and sounds like a great place to stay. #BloggerClubUK

It’s really rare you get hot chocolate so that was definitely a bonus! And who doesn’t love a good Kit Kat haha

Growing up my uncle worked for the Holiday Inn chains and would often book us a stay at one of the Holiday Inns along the way between our house and theirs (we lived a good 2 days drive apart and it was a welcome relief to pull up to our hotel at night).
