Welcome to the Blogger Spotlight Interview. This week we have Jane from Lady Janey taking part in the Blogger Spotlight interview.
If you would like to take part, and your blog is under six months old, or has been re-launched in the last six months, please email me randommusings29@gmail.com
1 Firstly, tell us a little bit about yourself
Hi, I’m Jane and I live in Gloucestershire with my husband and labradoodle dog, Barney.
When I’m not working on my blog, I’m a languages teacher in a boys’ grammar school.
Hobbies wise I love writing (particularly poems) eating out, watching films and spending time walking my dog.
2 What is your blog’s name and what is it about?
My blog is Lady Janey and I write about topical consumer issues, whilst at the same time recognising and championing excellent customer service.
3 Why did you decide to start a blog?
I started writing my blog after being exasperated for years with falling standards of customer service in the UK. I also love writing so it was an ideal opportunity to combine both interests.
4 Do you have any goals for your blog?
I’m really ambitious blog wise. I really hope that I can encourage people to share their customer service experiences and that I can raise awareness of some of the issues I cover in my blog.
Ideally I’d like to be in a position where companies will come to me to ask for help and advice as to how they can improve the quality of customer service they provide.
I’d also love to be a cult media icon on Twitter with thousands and thousands of followers.
5 Tell us one random fact about you
When I worked for British Airways as cabin crew, I flew Prince William. Hands down the best day of my life.
6 What is the best piece of blog related advice you have received so far?
Don’t compare your beginning to someone else’s middle- it was a comment on one of the blogging sites and it’s spot on. Ricky Willis from Skintdad also wrote an excellent post about this very quote a couple of years ago.
7 What is your favourite thing about blogging?
I’ve met so many lovely people and despite still being in blog infancy, I have already had some fabulous opportunities. I also love the fact that people like my writing, that’s always nice to hear.
8 Is there anything you would do differently if you were starting over knowing what you know now?
I wouldn’t have been so worried about starting my blog. People talk about Bridezilla i.e. friends who go into bonkers overdrive when planning a wedding. I was the Blogzilla equivalent. I’m still working hard but going at a much happier less frenzied pace, just happy doing what I do.
9 Anything else you’d like to share with us?
Thanks for the opportunity to do an interview and a guest post- the blogging community is such a supportive one. I hope one day I can give as much love back.
Particular thanks to the following: Kelly Eroglu (reducedgrub.com) for being my inspiration, Sarah Lilico (stumbling ambitions.com) for keeping me sane, and Emma Bradley and Lynn James for their amazing book Blogging Your Way to Riches, which got me started in this journey.
