Welcome to the Blogger Spotlight Interview. This week we have Cati from Quarter Life Crisis taking part in the Blogger Spotlight interview.
If you would like to take part, and your blog is under six months old, or has been re-launched in the last six months, please email me randommusings29@gmail.com
1 Firstly, tell us a little bit about yourself
I’m Cati, 27 and from South Wales. I’m a primary school teacher who has handed in her notice to travel the world.
2 What is your blog’s name and what is it about?
It’s called Quarter Life Crisis, and it will document mine and my travel buddy’s upcoming backpacking adventure through South East Asia. We will then continue blogging whilst we work, live and explore Sydney for 6 months before continuing our travels up the east coast of Australia and hopefully New Zealand.
3 Why did you decide to start a blog?
I have always loved writing and wanted to document our travels.
4 Do you have any goals for your blog?
Hopefully it will become a well read travel blog and who knows may even become a source of income; allowing me to live out my dream of writing for a living.
5 Tell us one random fact about you
I have two tattoos. Both representing two contradictory aspects of my personality.
The first is a small, personal tattoo on the back of my neck that says, ‘Cymru am byth’. It means Wales forever and reflects the love I have for my homeland. I lived in England for 5 years and throughout all that time I never considered it home. I recently moved back to Wales and I feel complete once more.
The second tattoo is a large outline of the world map on my thigh. Whilst Wales is my home, fy etifeddiaeth (my heritage) and I will always feel a deep hiraeth (a welsh word without a literal English translation but represents a deep longing, aching might be a better word, for your homeland) I have a wanderlust that needs quenching. The idea is that I will get each continent I have visited coloured in.
6 What is the best piece of blog related advice you have received so far?
Blog often, from the heart and about what you know. Become a part of the blogging community and engage sincerely with others.
7 What is your favourite thing about blogging?
It’s an outlet for my passion for writing. Not only that, I love the sense of community and support that comes along with it. A community that is worldwide: I love seeing likes and comments from readers all over the world.
8 Is there anything you would do differently if you were starting over knowing what you know now?
Set aside a time for writing and reading others’ blogs. It can become time consuming and you can forget to enjoy life without being attached to a screen.
9 Anything else you’d like to share with us?
My love of writing came from my mother, she died when I was 13 and I feel it’s a shared passion that keeps me close to her. She wrote poetry and encouraged me to do so from an early age.
I will never forget the poem that I wrote when I was 8 that she sent into one of her poetry magazines that got published. One day I hope I will be able to write poetry again, but for now blogging will satisfy my need to write.
