Is it too early for Christmas cocktails? Of course not. It’s never too early for cocktails of any kind right.
I love thinking up new cocktails, so when the lovely people at Opies sent me some cocktail garnishes, it was a great excuse for me to get to work on designing a new cocktail.
I couldn’t resist designing a shooter as well so below you’ll find both recipes.
Ginger Christmas – Shooter
What You’ll Need (per shooter):
20ml of Citrus Absolut Vodka
10ml of ginger ale
5ml of apple juice
Opies crystalised stem ginger
Cocktail stick
A 35ml shot glass
How to Make Them
Pour the vodka in the glass.
Add the apple juice.
Add the ginger ale, being careful it doesn’t fizz over.
Place a piece of crystalised stem ginger on a cocktail stick and place on the top of the shooter with the stick pointing down.
Drink the shot around the ginger for maximum ginger impact.
Christmas Gin Fizz
What You’ll Need (per drink):
25ml Gordon’s gin
100ml rose wine (I use White Zinfandel)
50ml of 7up or something similar
One cocktail cherry
Half a slice of pink grapefruit
Edible gold glitter
How to Make Them
Pour the gin into a glass – I like champagne glasses, but any wine glass will work
Add the rose wine
Add the Sprite and wait for the fizz to die down
Drop one cocktail cherry in each glass and wait for the fizz to die down again
Gently sprinkle the edible glitter on the top and swirl around with a cocktail stick to spread it out on the surface of the drink
Add the pink grapefruit garnish and serve immediately while the drink is still fizzy
Will you be trying either of these (or both)? Let me know in the comments 🙂

I’m not allowed to eat or drink anything which includes grapefruit or grapefruit juice, but these both look interesting. I drank a Sloe Gin Fizz on the night that I graduated from high school, but that was way back in 1974!

Give it a go – it’ll take you straight back to graduation (just leave the garnish off)

That gin fizz looks yuuuuuummmmyyyyy! I had a strawberry one at happy hour the other day, and it had a whipped egg white on top. I was a little nervous about trying it, but it was pretty dang delicious.

Wow, I don’t think I’ve ever made my own cocktails, I usually stick to a glass of wine. I love a cocktail when I’m out though (which isn’t very often!) I’m tempted to stock up on cocktail supplies for christmas now!

I think it would be rude not to try the ginger one as it sounds medicinal for winter colds 😉 #bloggerclubuk
