Welcome to the Blogger Spotlight Interview. This week we have Nikki from The Female Money Doctor taking part.
If you would like to take part, and your blog is under six months old, or has been re-launched in the last six months, please email me randommusings29@gmail.com
1 Firstly, tell us a little bit about yourself
My name is Dr Nikki Ramskill, and I am a GP registrar working currently in Milton Keynes. I’ve been a medical doctor for 9 years, and graduated in London.
2 What is your blog’s name and what is it about?
The Female Money Doctor
Each week I cover a topic that I think my reader will find interesting or inspiring about money.
These include, but are not exclusive to – debt/saving/investing/earning/budgeting and mindset issues around money.
The idea is to help others eliminate their anxieties around money, thereby improving their mental health and improve their health overall.
3 Why did you decide to start a blog?
I started learning about money when I turned 30, and couldn’t believe how much there was to learn. It is an amazing feeling to finally understand issues that had been bothering me for years, and I’m always learning new things.
I realised that I wanted to share what I had learned about because I can see money issues among my friends, family and even my patients.
Money is an important element of health, and more attention needs to be brought to it in an easy to digest, fun way. When I realised this, my blog was born.
4 Do you have any goals for your blog?
I eventually want to create an online training platform for people to use to gain clarity with their money. It really isn’t difficult once you put some basics in place.
I want to use my blog to bring about change and awareness among younger adults especially, because they are the ones who will be badly affected in years to come if they do not act now while they have time.
5 Tell us one random fact about you
I used to work in the field of obstetrics and gynaecology, and I have delivered over 250 babies, including 8 sets of twins.
6 What is the best piece of blog related advice you have received so far?
To be persistent and consistent. Every successful blogger I follow releases a blog post on a regular basis. I used to be quite sporadic, now I plan and release weekly content to my readers.
7 What is your favourite thing about blogging?
I love writing and getting my ideas out of my head onto paper. It’s a totally different part of my brain being used, and I can literally feel the tension from my “day job” leave me once I put my fingers on the keyboard and write.
8 Is there anything you would do differently if you were starting over knowing what you know now?
To just start. For years I told myself that I wasn’t good enough to do this, and that no one would read my blog.
I thought it was beyond me, and it was something “other people” did. I have realised that every blogger starts like this, and this is how we grow. I believe everything happens for a reason though, and exactly when it should, so it’s hard to have any regrets about it.
9 Anything else you’d like to share with us?
Anything is possible if you put your mind to it. I got into medical school despite being the first person ever to do so from my comprehensive in South East London. My parents are not medically trained. I am a complete enigma, but that’s ok.
10 Where can we find you? (blog link and links to any social media)
My blog, Twitter, Instagram, Facebook and Pinterest.
