Welcome to the Blogger Spotlight Interview. This week we have Kerry from Mummy Thomas’s Adventures taking part.
If you would like to take part, and your blog is under six months old, or has been re-launched in the last six months, please email me randommusings29@gmail.com
1 Firstly, tell us a little bit about yourself
I’m a mum to a beautiful two year old girl and a wifey. I love nothing more than to worry, so my husband says. I love to write, draw and dance.
I have a cheeky cat that thinks he’s a dog, he collects the post and brings it to me. He howls at the door when my husband leaves for work. We got him from the RSPCA, he was with dogs as a kitten, may explain it ha.
I turned the big 30 this year and yes I feel old. I will be moving to the countryside away from our busy town, Can’t wait for the fresh air and scenery.
I love a good box set, especially The Vampire Diaries and The Originals. I also love Gavin and Stacey.
I’m a chocolate lover and that’s one thing I couldn’t give up.
2 What is your blog’s name and what is it about?
My blog’s name is Mummy Thomas’s Adventures. It’s about my experiences as a new mum, but also about my birth trauma and mental illnesses.
3 Why did you decide to start a blog?
I decided to start blogging because I love to write and felt ready to share my experiences in the hope that they raise some awareness for women that have suffered with Birth trauma and PTSD. I was diagnosed with PTSD via my counsellor after experiencing a traumatic birth. I was diagnosed with PND via my GP and again I’d like to share my experience to hopefully raise awareness.
4 Do you have any goals for your blog?
I write my blog in the hope that men and women can relate and not feel isolated. I would feel I’ve achieved what I wanted to do then with blogging.
My goal is to hopefully help to make a difference out there and support people as much as I can who are experiencing similar issues.
I eventually would love to publish my book once it’s finished. If anyone was interested in reading it that is ha.
5 Tell us one random fact about you
A random fact about me is hmmmmmm…… I once met Gok Wan in a lift in Debenhams in London. I looked like hell. I was full of cold and I had a massive baggy hoody on with jeans and a woolly hat. I was so embarrassed of how I looked that I couldn’t bring myself to say ‘hello’. Cringe.
6 What is the best piece of blog related advice you have received so far?
I’ve had people tell me that they can relate to my blogs and they have thanked me. Which felt great because without sounding like a cliché I truly want to help people. I wouldn’t wish what I have been through on my worst enemy.
I was told to carry on doing what I’m doing and that they felt I was a good role model. It does help when you receive good feedback as you don’t feel like you are annoying everyone with your rants.
7 What is your favourite thing about blogging?
My favourite thing is that it feels like I’m almost writing a diary. I’m getting it all off my chest. I love meeting new people and reading their stories. I can relate to so many and I don’t feel so alone.
8 Is there anything you would do differently if you were starting over knowing what you know now?
I don’t think so because it’s all still so new to me. I started in August on Birth trauma awareness week. So I haven’t been doing it long at all.
9 Anything else you’d like to share with us?
Just that I hope I haven’t bored you too much and that I hope to carry on raising awareness for mental health and birth trauma and hope to meet some great people.
10 Where can we find you? (blog link and links to any social media)
