This week, we have the lovely Amy from The Rolling Baby
1 Introduce yourself
Hi, I’m Amy, a first time Mum and new(ish) blogger from Suffolk. I started The Rolling Baby just as my baby girl started rolling and that’s where my blog name stems from. I love that I was able to use one of my baby’s milestones as the name of my blog.
2 Tell us a little bit about your blog
I mainly blog about parenting and being a first time mum. I’ve also got a few recipes on my blog and my vegan banana and chocolate cake is one of my most popular posts.
3 What can your readers learn from your blog?
Readers can follow my journey as a first time mum juggling looking after a baby, a dog (who’s like another baby) and running a home. I’m honest when discussing issues such as sleep deprivation and weaning and my worries on returning back to work when my maternity leave ends.
4 What’s your favourite thing about blogging?
I love the structure it gives to my day. Whenever my baby naps, I grab the laptop and I work on my blog. I’ll draft a new post, join a linky or read and comment on another blogger’s blog. I also love interacting with other bloggers and reading their posts, it makes me realise that I’m not alone in dealing with the trials and tribulations of parenthood.
5 And your least favourite thing about blogging?
I don’t think there is anything that I don’t like. I’m no expert at HTML and coding and I have struggled with that at times, but I see it as more of a challenge than anything else.
6 Tell us one random fact about you
I’ve never tried coffee. I can’t stand the smell of it, so the thought of drinking it makes me feel ill.
7 If you could only blog about one thing for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?
It would have to be parenting. I’m only 7 months in, but parenting never ends, does it? Not even when they’ve grown up, moved out and got their own family.
8 What was the hardest part of starting your blog and why?
Deciding on a theme. I went through so many to start with and just as I chose one, I couldn’t adjust it as I wanted no matter how hard I tried, so I picked a new one and started again. I think I must have done that at least five times.
9 If you could give new bloggers one piece of advice, what would it be?
Blog about what you love and don’t worry about how others will perceive it. Be your own person and don’t follow the ‘trend’. Your posts will be much more believable if you write about the things you genuinely care about rather than what you think your readers will want to read.
10 Is there anything you know now that you wish you’d known in the beginning?
Linkies are a blogger’s best friend. It took me nearly three months before I joined my first linky and I’m addicted to them now, but I wish it hadn’t taken me so long to pluck up the courage to start joining them. I love the variety of blogs and topics you can discover from joining a linky and there’s a real sense of community with most of them too.
11 Do you have any long term goals for your blog?
I want to continue to increase my page views and I’d like to go self-hosted so that I can grow my blog further.
12 Who’s your blogging hero?
That’s such a difficult one. There’s so many bloggers that I admire.
I love Lucy’s blog Me, Being Mummy, she runs the first linky that I joined and I’ve been addicted to them ever since.
Zoe at The Tale of Mummyhood produces some really great posts that have really helped me as a new blogger and her Workshop Wednesday posts are brilliant.
There’s so many other brilliant bloggers out there, I could be here all day.
13 What’s your favourite social media network and why?
Definitely Twitter. I’ve met so many wonderful people over there in such a short space of time, many of whom are mums and they’re so supportive. I love trawling through my timeline and seeing what everyone is up to and reading how other parents are having a good or bad day with their kids. When my little one is up in the middle of the night refusing to sleep, there’s always someone tweeting they’re going through the same thing so I never feel alone.
14 Anything else you want to share with us?
I love interacting with new bloggers, so I’d love to hear from you and read your blogs too.
I also want to say a big thank you to Debbie for giving me the chance to guest post on her wonderful blog.
15 Where can we find you? (blog link and links to any social media)
