The Blogger’s Corner series is an interview series featuring advice and experience from bloggers whose blogs are older than six months.
If you would like to take part, you can find all of the details here.
This week, we have the lovely Angelina and Aris from The Toy Time
1 Introduce yourself
Angelina Swift is a mom blogger to a toddler who has yet to sleep through the night. While parenting has been the hardest thing she has ever done, she absolutely loves being a mom and writing about kids toys on The Toy Time.
Aris Tchoukoualeu has a one-year-old girl and is an online enthusiast who looks after the technical part of The Toy Time.
We are the co-founders of The Toy Time website.
2 Tell us a little bit about your blog
The Toy Time was created to provide the best recommendations for toys for busy parents, family members and friends. We realized early on that toys are an important part of childhood but it is often difficult to decide what toy is best to buy because of the crazy amount of choices. We want to help parents make the best choice with the limited energy, time or finance that they have available.
3 What can your readers learn from your blog?
One of our most popular articles was about which toys were best for helping a baby to crawl. Because we are parents ourselves, we know firsthand how worrying it can be for a parent when their child seems to be stalled on a developmental milestone. We too have had to try different strategies to help our kids and we talk about what works and what doesn’t.
4 What’s your favourite thing about blogging?
The absolutely best part is finding an amazing toy that you never knew existed. You go, “Oh WOW! I am so glad I found this.” Needless to say, our kids have a lot of toys at home.
5 And your least favourite thing about blogging?
Consistency. It’s not easy when your schedule is largely dictated by a very small, often unreasonable person.
6 Tell us one random fact about you
Angelina’s favorite animal is a dolphin and she has experienced swimming with dolphins before.
When he is at work, Aris spends a lot of his time designing nano electronic circuits.
7 If you could only blog about one thing for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?
Kids, kids, kids. Because they are an important part of our lives.
8 What was the hardest part of starting your blog and why?
Getting traction and just getting people to come visit our website.
9 If you could give new bloggers one piece of advice, what would it be?
Don’t try to do everything yourself. It’s so much easier when you have someone else to stand in for your weaker skills.
10 Is there anything you know now that you wish you’d known in the beginning?
How important it is to keep writing…all the time.
11 Do you have any long term goals for your blog?
To make it something truly awesome and that parents will recognize the name of the website.
12 Who’s your blogging hero?
Pat Flynn- he’s a dad, he’s down to earth and he provides real help to his followers.
13 What’s your favourite social media network and why?
Facebook- just because all our family and friends are on it.
14 Anything else you want to share with us?
Not all toys are created equal. Some are better than others for building motor skills, linguistic skills, STEM etc. Understanding what development phase your child is going through and what toys are better than others for helping your child develop, can be of great help.
15 Where can we find you? (blog link and links to any social media)
Our blog, Twitter and Facebook.
