Welcome to this year’s A-Z Blogging Challenge. My theme for this year is character prompts. Each day throughout April, you’ll find a new character prompt that relates to that day’s letter.
Day Fifteen: O – On a First Date
Your character goes on a first date (if your character is already in a relationship, think back to their first date with their significant other).
Who is the date with? Describe the person physically and their personality.
Why was your character attracted to them?
Where do they go on the date and what do they do?
Does the date go well? Do they want to see each again at the end of the date?
How does your character feel after the date and do their perceptions of the date match reality?
I’d love to read some of the scenarios you create. Email them to me at debbie@myrandommusings.co.uk and I’ll share some of my favourites over the coming months here on the blog.

As planned She stood by the corner window of Ruby’s. There was He, trying to cross the road, every bit the geek the profile had made him out to be. It was her lot, to be attracted to geeks. The last three hadn’t worked out. Maybe this time? Taller, darker, even geekier than the usual attraction, She watched as He drew closer.
He was ready. A single yellow rose and a solitary hand-made chocolate. A man of style – geekily. Brownie points for choosing Ruby’s, brownie points for the subtle offerings. Here goes.
He orders the cantaloupe and parmesan flan. She opts for the kale and coconut salad with a side of olives. They share the olives. He orders a rose wine. More brownies. He asks all the right questions, then listens. She asks and receives quick and bright responses. There is no hesitation. There are things shared and things upon which they differed, but not disturbingly so. They agree to another meeting.
He offers to see her home, but it’s just around the corner so she politely declines for this occasion. Best keep that under wraps for now. Who knows what will happen next time. As she enters her door, the phone buzzes with a text. It is He, saying what a lovely evening and that although it was a surprise, being with a transvestite didn’t bother him and how much the next meal was anticipated.
She had sweet, geeky dreams that night.

Great ending, didn’t see that coming at all!

Their first date was when she was younger, tagging along with her older sister. Since that day she has compared every boy she’s ever been out with to him. He has no idea she considered it a date. She is just the younger sister of his best friend’s girlfriend.
