Welcome to this year’s A-Z Blogging Challenge. My theme for this year is character prompts. Each day throughout April, you’ll find a new character prompt that relates to that day’s letter.
Day Twenty: T – Trust That’s Betrayed
Someone your character thought they could trust betrays them.
Who betrayed them and what did they do?
How do they feel when they learn of the betrayal?
Did the person betray them because they felt they had no choice, or for self gain? Some other reason?
Does their motive change the way your character feels about the betrayal? Why?
How does this affect your character in the long term? Does it make it harder for them to trust people? What are the repercussions of the changes they undergo?
I’d love to read some of the scenarios you create. Email them to me at debbie@myrandommusings.co.uk and I’ll share some of my favourites over the coming months here on the blog.

…nope… no speedy fiction from me on this one tonight… though I really like this prompt – it speaks to understanding motive and how it can get lost or twisted… leave it with me! YAM xx
Yeah it’s a bit of a deep one today haha x
I am not sure…Its a bot complicated actually..it would depend on who betrayed or the circumstances maybe..not sure
Sorry, i have been unwell last week and could not comment on your posts.
No need to apologise, hope you’re feeling better
All of those prompts make a lot of sense – you have to think about how the characters feel and how they act as a result. Writing is nearly like acting out life scenarios!
It really is!
I found you via Blogger Club UK, so am not a creative writer myself, but what a brilliant idea to have a character prompt every day. If I ever write a book it’s likely to be a blog one or a children’s one, so this is probably a little deep for that, but if I ever write a novel I’ll definitely be back! #BloggerClubUK
I’ve been really out of the blogging loop recently, I love your A-Z challenges, I always read them withd fascination!
Great that you’re doing writing props as well Xxx
It’s a lot of fun to do but now I have loads of ideas for stories and no time to write them
I can never write to order! It’s the contrarian in me!!! Great idea though for those that can. #BloggerClubUK
Thanks for the prompt, really interesting to read these and see the process a writer needs to go through. #bloggerclubUK
Sounds like a fun activity to do #BloggerClubUK
I’ve never tried creative writing but love the idea of a daily prompt – I may use it for my blogging planner!!
#BloggerClubUK
These prompts are really great DEBBIE….Let me think about this one…. #bloggerclubuk
Oh I do love these prompts – they make the creative writer in me want to get writing again.
#BloggerClubUK
Oh do it!
Oooo a trust that has been betrayed is one of my favourite plot twists in a book, great prompt #bloggerclubuk
Thank you
This would be great in a story. #bloggerclubUK
I hope this A-Z challenge winds up with a big post of all the fabulous creative people sending you short stories from these prompts! You always ask the best questions to get people’s minds turning!
#BloggerClubUK
I have a couple of stories from the lovely people who’ve put stuff together – they’ll be going out in May
These are some really great promps to think about. Especially when creating a character profile and engaging the audience. Thank you for sharing #bloggerclubuk
I think this is a scenario that every person can identify with. Trust is so fragile and easily broken #bloggerclubuk
Ooh yes…you can’t write a juicy story without a bit of betrayal! #bloggerclubuk
