Welcome to the Blogger Spotlight Interview. This week we have Katelynn from Hampers and Hiccups taking part.
If you would like to take part, and your blog is under six months old, or has been re-launched in the last six months, please email me randommusings29@gmail.com
1 Firstly, tell us a little bit about yourself
I’m Katelynn, an (almost) 27-year-old stay-at-home-mama to two precious miracles – Sweet Girl (20 months) and Pip (3 months), as well as our fur baby – a Blue Heeler x Great Pyrenese, Silver.
I’m married to my best friend & love of my life (how cliché, right?). Together, we live on a very special yard, close to the family farm and my husband’s home “town” of about 25 people. We’re part of that community, as well as the one I grew up in (300 people), about ten miles from home.
I enjoy a simpler way of life – getting back to nature, reusing and recycling, gardening and preserving. My hobbies are sewing, dirt biking, reading, spending time at the lake cabin, hunting and watching my kids learn and grow.
2 What is your blog’s name and what is it about?
Hampers & Hiccups is the name of my blog. The tagline of H&H is “Modern Homemaking Made Simple”.
I strive to find simple, authentic practices of making a house a home. I write about parenting (baby lead weaning, cloth diapers, sleep training and positive parenting), homemaking (sewing, cooking, cleaning and organizing), gardening and preserving.
3 Why did you decide to start a blog?
To be honest, this is my 4th blog! The first 3 were failures from the start. This one feels right and at the right time.
I want to help other parents with the struggles of having kids. I want to share my knowledge on the topics I’ve researched and experienced.
I have a passion for purging and organizing and a crazy desire to do so in literally every home I go to. If I could help individuals and families with their clutter, I’d be a happy woman.
4 Do you have any goals for your blog?
Of course. This year I’d like to start turning a profit – have the blog pay for itself and make a net income, whatever that may be.
Other than money, I want to be able to feature some fabulous guest posts, be asked to write guest posts, work towards a freelance career, and possibly start a new virtual venture (details to come, hopefully).
I also want to grow my email list and create an engaging community.
5 Tell us one random fact about you
I often wonder why I live in the era that I do. I feel I would have fit in and been perfectly comfortable in the Pioneer Days. I’m sure I’m fooling myself.
6 What is the best piece of blog related advice you have received so far?
Grow your email list. Paid ads and algorithms can change in an instant, but your list is the one thing you own. Grow it. Nurture it.
7 What is your favourite thing about blogging?
The writing. It’s what I love to do.
Close second is the networking that I’m starting to be a part of. Sense of community is great when you’re a SAHM.
8 Is there anything you would do differently if you were starting over knowing what you know now?
Possibly a different blog theme. Start connecting with other bloggers sooner. Find link-ups.
9 Anything else you’d like to share with us?
I have big plans for H&H in 2018 and beyond. There’s a lot I have to share, but I am waiting for the right time. I hope you’ll stick around to see what’s coming.
10 Where can we find you? (blog link and links to any social media)
My blog, Twitter and Pinterest.
Thank you for this opportunity. It’s overwhelming the offers I’ve been receiving lately. The hustling is starting to pay off 😊
