While I certainly don’t claim to be a poet by any means, it’s always fun to play with rhymes and words, so I thought I’d share a Halloween poem with you all (it seems to be a bit of a tradition now).
Leaves of brown falling from the trees,
The chill of winter on the roving breeze,
Pumpkins and lanterns light up the night,
It’s a time for scares, it’s a time for fright.
Children wander from door to door,
Collecting their treasures, hoping for more,
Toffee apples, cocoa and cinnamon sticks,
All hoping for treats; no one wants tricks.
A black cat dancing in the light of the moon,
A witch’s broom, a toad and even a rune,
There’s magic humming in the air all around,
Nervous laughter and shrieks are the prevalent sound.
With killer clowns, zombies, the occasional ghost,
Is it any wonder it’s the night the ghouls love the most?
Twisting and creeping, sending a shiver down your spine,
It’s only one night, you say, I know I’ll be fine.
What do you think? Let me know in the comments 🙂

I’m actually not a particular lover of Halloween, but I suppose I need to get involved for the sake of my 2 yr old! Great poem. #BloggerClubUk

I enjoyed your poem. Lot of nice imaginery that covers just about every thing associated with Halloween.
