Is it even December without some Christmas songs playing? I love them all, but below, I’m sharing my top ten favourites (in no particular order). If you work in retail and you’ve been hearing these since October then my apologies.
As I chose the songs for the list, I did notice that I tend to go for the sadder songs – not that I don’t like a bit of Slade too though.
1 Fairytale of New York
The Pogues and Kirsty Maccoll
2 2,000 Miles
The Pretenders
3 Step Into Christmas
Elton John
4 Sleigh Ride
The Ronettes (although I also really like the cover The Spice Girls did of this too)
5 Let it Snow
Dean Martin
6 Blue Christmas
Jim Reeves
7 White Christmas
Bing Crosby

Lonely This Christmas
Mud
9 An Old Christmas Card
Jim Reeves – I know there are hundreds of songs out there and I’ve chosen two of Jim Reeves’ songs, but they will always hold a special place in my heart as they remind me of Christmases when I was little and my grandparents would play Jim Reeves’ Christmas Album (on vinyl) and I couldn’t choose between my two favourites of his.
10 All I Want For Christmas Is You
Mariah Carey – you can’t do a Christmas playlist without this song
I said at the beginning the list was in no particular order, but if I had to choose a favourite, it would have to be Fairytale of New York with Blue Christmas a very close second. What’s your all time favourite Christmas song? Let me know in the comments 🙂
Bonus Song
If the original Blue Christmas is too depressing for you, then have a listen to Porky Pig’s version
