Last year, I set myself ten goals to achieve over the course of the year. Overall, I’m happy with the way the year turned out and I feel like I did pretty well with my goals, although I didn’t achieve all of them.
Below is the list of goals I set myself and how I faired on each one.
Goal One
The goal: Grow my two Facebook groups
The result: I started two new Facebook groups last year. The first one, Giveaways Galore, which is a group to share and enter giveaways, now has almost five hundred members. I’m really happy with the growth for this one.
The second group, The Writer’s Den, focuses on writing and for all it’s a small community of under one hundred people, I couldn’t ask for a better group. It’s a lovely, supportive place where we encourage each other and help each out with any problems or anything.
Goal Two
The goal: Complete and publish The Asylum Tour
The result: The Asylum Tour, which was a novel I started in late 2017, got finished and published in 2018.
Goal Three
The goal: Post daily to the blog
The result: I mostly posted daily to my blog except during holidays etc, which I’m counting as a success as I knew I wouldn’t be posting while I was on holiday.
Goal Four
The goal: Keep up with daily posts on Instagram and my Facebook page
The result: Again, with the exception of holidays, I did this and it’s definitely worth growing if you’re trying to grow either of those channels as it really boosted my reach.
Goal Five
The goal: Grow my social media followers by 50%
The result: I failed miserably on this one achieving only 43%. I’m consoling myself by accepting that I didn’t actually have a real strategy or anything in place for this one.
Goal Six
The goal: Write and publish Twisted Tales 3
The result: Twisted Tales 3 a collection of short dark stories was written and published. Incidentally, all three of the Twisted Tales books are only 99p and you don’t have to read them in any order. You can take a peek here. Is it even a blog post if you don’t plug something?
Goal Seven
The goal: Write and publish two non-fiction books.
The result: I achieved this one with Optimise Your Blog Like a Boss: The Beginner’s Guide to Getting Visible on Google and eBook Like a Boss: A Complete Guide to Writing and Selling a Profitable Non-Fiction eBook.
Goal Eight
The goal: Complete the April A-Z Challenge
The result: This is a blogging challenge where bloggers blog around a theme, posting each day in April (except Sundays) and each post relates to that day’s letter, so day one is A, day two is B etc. I have completed this challenge three times now and I love it.
Goal Nine
The goal: Complete #NaNoWriMo
The result: I hit the 50K word target and completed #NaNoWriMo. Now I just have to finish the novel as it’s going to be a fair bit longer than 50K words.
Goal Ten
The goal: Grow my income by 30%
The result: I am really pleased with this one. I grew my income by around 60% through book sales and freelance writing.

I didn’t make any real goals last year but I also didn’t achieve the ones I made. This year though I plan to stick to the goals I made. My main goal being that I finally face my fears about publishing and just do it. I even gave myself a deadline this time! Your Facebook group has helped a lot with that π #AnythingGoes

So happy to have helped π Good luck with your book, I can’t wait to read it!
