Fellow bloggers may well recognise Heather’s name – she’s the brains behind the hilarious blog, Shank You Very Much. Before I get into the review, I just want to point out that Heather hasn’t asked me to review her book and all opinions are my own – she lives much too far away to bribe me with chocolates.
Dear Lola by Heather Keet
Blurb from The Back Cover
An advice column answered by an English bulldog – because humans need a lot of help.
Life is hard. Every time you think you know the answer, another wrench gets thrown in and you are left with your mouth hanging open. That’s where Lola comes in – she can help you solve those life riddles that often seem meaningless, but keep you lying awake at night.
Having trouble with a co-worker? Consider it solved.
Need a way to best your spouse in an argument? Not a problem.
Trying to discover the meaning of life? Lola has that covered. It’s called cheese and life makes perfect sense when you eat it.
My Thoughts on The Book
Having read plenty of the Dear Lola posts on Heather’s blog, I knew what to expect from Lola’s advise – sass, sarcasm and plenty of laughs. The book didn’t disappoint. Packed full of Lola’s advise, she keeps us humans in line while making sure we are all aware that dogs are obviously the superior species.
I particularly enjoyed the war Lola has undoubtedly caused in some unsuspecting office over smelly foods (or rather non smelly foods that are being labelled as such), and how she solved an argument about shrimps and prawns. I think I particularly enjoyed that one because she confirmed my thoughts on the matter, and if Lola says it, then it must be true.
Conclusion and Rating
If you’re looking for a light hearted, often sarcastic book that will make you laugh, then this is the book for you. Heather and Lola make a great team and I can’t wait for the next volume to be released. 5/5
