Welcome to day fourteen of the A-Z Challenge – N is for Needful Things.
My theme for this year is “The A-Z of My Favourite Books and Authors”. Each day (except Sunday) will feature a book or author whose title or first or last name starts with the corresponding letter of the alphabet.
As I said on “K” day, one of my favourite authors is Stephen King, and today’s book is Needful Things by Stephen King. It’s funny because it’s definitely one of my favourite Stephen King books and yet it seems to be one of those books that hardly anyone has heard of.
Set in the familiar area of Maine that all King fans will recognise, Needful Things shows the small town attitude (which in this case turns out to be the right attitude) of a reluctance to accept strangers. It then goes on to show just how far people will go to get their heart’s desire, and in turn, the consequences of their actions, and how one man can manipulate others to do his will and cause absolute chaos.
Have you read Needful Things? Did you enjoy it? Let me know in the comments 🙂

I haven’t read Needful Things. I’ve only read a couple of Stephen King novels, although I know he’s a great writer. I just don’t like stories that are too scary and might give me nightmares! I’ve read The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon- my brother recommended it to me. And I’ve read Elevation, a newer one. I couldn’t stop reading it– I had to know what was going to happen. It wasn’t a scary novel, though. Just fantastical, if that’s a word.
Thanks for visiting my blog! Visiting you from the A-Z Challenge!

The Green Mile is a good one if you love his writing but not the scarier ones.
