I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and a fun new year’s celebration and of course some much needed time off work. Having a break is lovely isn’t it, but in some ways, I’m always kind of glad to get back into the normal routine. Weird huh?
Anyway, today’s post is mostly to tell you about some decisions I’ve made with regards to the blog and the changes that have come about. I love blogging. I really do. But it’s so time consuming, and with two blogs, plus my full time job as a ghost writer and trying to write my own books and courses, I have found more and more that I just don’t have the time to maintain everything properly.
With that in mind, I have decided to change my posting schedule for my blogs.
New Schedule for This Blog
As you might already know, myself, Becky and Clare have decided to end the Blogger Club UK linky, and I have also decided I will only be posting twice per week – Mondays will be the Anything Goes linky as always, and my other post will go live on a Friday.
The first Friday of the month will be my “Would You Rather?” post as always, the second Friday will be a giveaway, the last Friday will be a book review, and the one (or two in some months) in between could be anything!
To make sure you don’t miss out on any of the posts, you can join the club at the end of this post and receive a weekly email of my posts directly into your inbox. The email will go out on a Monday, so it’s a good way to remind yourself to come and link up with Anything Goes.
New Schedule for My Writing Blog
I have also made some changes on my writing blog, deborahstansil.com. I started the blog about this time last year, and one of the things I chose to do was a weekly linky for writing based posts. I really thought this would be something writers saw the benefit of as it’s a great way to get your writing out there and connect with other writers. I found though that there wasn’t many posts being linked up.
I debated cancelling the linky altogether, but in the end, I decided to make it a monthly linky. It will now go live on the second Friday of each month and run for the month.
The first Friday of the month will be a giveaway, the last Friday will be a motivational quote and a related writing prompt, and the other Fridays will be writing related posts on anything from characterisation to marketing your book.
As you can see, there have been some big changes, and while I will miss blogging as often as I used to (last year I did twice weekly posts on my writing blog and four posts per week on this blog), I know I have made the right decision to remove some of the overwhelm and dedicate more time to other aspects of my writing. I am excited to see what this year brings.

Hmm. I don’t think I’m subscribed to your writing blog. I’ll have to fix that.

Hope you enjoy it 🙂

Some big changes to start the year and I like your style!
I have never really had a set routine with my blogs, which has probably led to the fact I am forever working on them and seemingly get nowhere! I have set myself some mini goals to achieve with blogging this year and hopefully that will help. Having set days to do certain aspects will also be good to work on. Hope you are having a lovely weekend! Sim x

I think the goals will really help – good luck with them 🙂 Thank you, hope you are having a lovely weekend too x

I know what you mean about back to normal. This morning we are still drinking “Christmas tea” but we’re drinking it out of our ordinary mugs.

Almost there then haha

I didn’t know about your writing blog. Heading over to check it out. Your changes sound sensible to me!

Hope you like it!

I’m trying out some new changes to my posting schedule on my blog too; now if I can just make myself stick to them I’ll be all set! Just joined your club.

Thanks for joining! Sticking to them can be tough

This year I have decided that I want to have more of a schedule with my blogging too rather than winging it. The New Year seemed like a good opportunity to make positive changes! #AnythingGoes

I’d be lost without some sort of schedule lol. Yeah the new year is a great time for changes

I really admire you for making these changes. I often think I am a slave to blogging and that removes the joy of it. The rewards are not always worth it. Well done you on carving out a new plan #AnythingGoes

I do find sometimes being bogged down with it all takes the fun out of it, and for me, blogging is meant to be fun. I know it’s obviously different if it’s your main business, but if it’s not, it just feels strange to me to have a hobby that leaves me feeling stressed out.

Sometimes it is good to have change and move forward X #anythinggoes

Definitely!

Sounds like you put alot of work into your blog!

Too much sometimes lol

Happy New Year, Debbie.
I’m not surprised you’re cutting back. I’ve often wondered how you managed to post so frequently. Blogging is so time-consuming. I struggle to write a new post once a week!
I hope this gives you more time to focus on your writing and other work.

Happy new year 🙂 I think it’s going to make a big difference.
