With everything going on in the world, I’ve seen people say they can’t concentrate to read, and I’ve also seen people say that they’ve rediscovered reading with the extra time being furloughed has given them. For me, I think I read slightly more than usual, but I think that was more to do with the heat in April and May stopping me from sleeping than anything else really.
It made choosing my favourite read so far a bit harder, because I have read a lot of great books so far this year, but eventually I did manage to answer the questions and my answers are below.
Best Book You’ve Read So Far in 2020
My favourite book of the year so far is (Aff link, see bottom of post for more details) The Death of Mrs Westaway by Ruth Ware.
Best Sequel You’ve Read So Far in 2020
It’s technically a prequel, but I’m going with it anyway; The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes by Susannah Collins, the prequel to the Hunger Games trilogy.
New Release You Haven’t Read Yet, but Want To
This one would have to be Haven’t They Grown by Sophie Hannah, just because it looks like a good read.
Most Anticipated Release for the Second Half Of the Year
This has got to be The Book of Two Ways by Jodi Picoult. She’s one of my favourite authors and I can’t wait to get my hands on this book.
Biggest Disappointment
You know when you’ve wanted to read a book for ages and you really want to love it and then you don’t? Yeah that was me with Sophie’s Choice. The story could have been told better in half the amount of pages.
Favourite New Author (Debut or New to You)
For me this would be Kim Liggett after I read The Grace Year which was a very close second for my favourite book of the year. A brilliant book with a Lord of the Flies meets Vox sort of a feel to it.
And that’s it. If you would like to answer the questions, consider yourself tagged. And if you like a good read, check out the books (except maybe Sophie’s Choice).
Have you read any of these? Did you enjoy them? Let me know in the comments :))

I have read a little bit more during lockdown. It’s a way at night to wind down after keep looking at social media to read the news. I’ve just read The Lovely Bones by Alice Seabold. Really good book. Ooooh I do fancy that look….Havent they Grown! I’m intregued!
Debbie, My Random Musings
I’ve read The Lovely Bones but to be honest, I didn’t enjoy it. I thought it was slow and although it had a great concept, it didn’t deliver on it for me.
Michele Morin
Keep on reading! It’s a great stretching habit for mind and heart!

I really, really loved Remains of the Day and am enjoying When we were Orphans…going to read another Ishiguro next…on a roll with him.
Debbie, My Random Musings
I’ve never tried him – might have to give him a go.
Sharon Hazel
I haven’t read any of those but had already put the Ruth Ware book on my ‘to order list’ for next week – which will be after payday! 🙂
