Welcome to day nineteen of the A-Z Challenge and today’s letter is S.
The A-Z Challenge involves blogging every day except Sundays and each day corresponds to a letter of the alphabet. The daily posts most relate to that letter and can all have a theme or can be totally random. My theme this year is Recommended Reading, where I will share three to five books for each letter that I have really enjoyed and think more people should read.
I have tried to have a mix of authors and genres but you will notice some real favourites occurring more than once. The posts do contain affiliate links (don’t worry, they don’t affect you in any way but if you want to know more, check the end of the post). Below you will find today’s chosen books:
A Spark of Light by Jodi Picoult
I love the way Jodi Picoult’s stories are very character driven, but at the same time, they revolve around a moral dilemma. Jodi Picoult is the queen of showing both sides of an argument fairly, to the point where you are raging for your favourite character, but you can see the other person’s point of view too. Still Alice by Lisa Genova
This book is very good and will keep you glued to the pages. It is both heart breaking and hopeful. It is told from the point of view of someone in the very early stages of Alzheimer’s disease and it is so well written. To read the blurb or to buy the book, click here.
Sophie’s Choice by William Styron
It’s so hard to imagine having to make the choice Sophie had to make, but it’s even harder to imagine life after such a choice. Love her or hate her, you can’t help but feel for her. To read the blurb or to buy the book, click here.
The Stand by Stephen King
The Stand is definitely one of Stephen King’s best books. While I can understand people being put off by the sheer size of the book, it doesn’t drag and it isn’t full of filler. Try it, you won’t be disappointed. To read the blurb or to buy the book, click here.
The School for Good Mothers by Jessamine Chan
The School for Good Mothers is a good look at society and how women and men are treated so differently, especially when it comes to parenting. It raises many questions about what is truly bad parenting and what is an honest mistake. To read the blurb or to buy the book, click here.

Two S’s with Stephen King and The Stand. When it originally came out, The Stand kept me up reading all night even though I had school the next day. And for days afterward anyone with sniffles made me suspicious.

There’s nothing as good as a book that keeps you up all night like that!

When I saw the letter I was prepared to come here and recommend the Stand make the list. Still one of my all time faves

Mine too!

Jodi Picoult is my all time favorite author. I haven’t read this book yet, I don’t get a lot of time for reading, but it’s going on my list!
