For this year’s A-Z Challenge, I have decided to do “An A-Z of Sarah J Maas characters”. The characters will be from the ACOTAR (A Court of Thorns and Roses) and ToG (Throne of Glass) series’ because when I first started researching this idea, I hadn’t read all of the CC (Crescent City) series.
Each day I will focus on one character from ACOTAR, TOG, or both, and I will share things such as an image of how I imagine them to look, what I like or dislike about the character, and how they affect the story.
I will try my best not to have any spoilers and if there are any, they will only be small ones – if I judge this differently to you then I apologise in advance.
Without further ado, let’s get to today’s post – Day Seventeen, Q.
ACOTAR – Q is for Quirky Amren
Amren is Rhysand’s second in command at the Night Court. She isn’t fae – she is much more ancient than that – and to be honest, it’s never really explained exactly what she is. She is fiery and quick to anger. She doesn’t take shit off anyone. That kind of gives the impression of a bit of a tomboy, but that’s not Amren at all – she loves pretty things, especially jewellery. She is definitely someone you want on your side in a fight.
ToG – Q is for Queen Aelin
Aelin/Celaena is a difficult character to sum up in a few lines, but let’s give it a go. There will likely be spoilers. She starts off as Celaena, an assassin. part of Arobynn’s pack of assassins. We follow her to the dessert to join the silent assassins for further training, and we follow her to Endovier, a prison which she is released from by Prince Dorian. We then find out Celaena is actually Princess Aelin, someone the world has long thought dead and she becomes the head of the rebellion and vows to take her land back for her people.
For someone so young, Aelin has her head screwed on, although sometimes she does make rash decision that throw her into danger’s path. You can’t help but root for her though, even when she has you face palming. If there is any character who deserves a happily ever after, it’s her.
Do you like today’s choice(s)? Who would you have chosen for this letter? Let me know in the comments.

Much more ancient than the fae? Intriguing.

I guess the only way to get Q was to keep another word in front of their actual names 😄
