For this year’s A-Z Challenge, I have decided to do “An A-Z of Sarah J Maas characters”. The characters will be from the ACOTAR (A Court of Thorns and Roses) and ToG (Throne of Glass) series’ because when I first started researching this idea, I hadn’t read all of the CC (Crescent City) series.
Each day I will focus on one character from ACOTAR, TOG, or both, and I will share things such as an image of how I imagine them to look, what I like or dislike about the character, and how they affect the story.
I will try my best not to have any spoilers and if there are any, they will only be small ones – if I judge this differently to you then I apologise in advance.
Without further ado, let’s get to today’s post – Day Twelve, L.
ACOTAR – L is for Lucien
Lucien was originally a member of the Autumn Court, thought to be the son of the High Lord and Lady (although Rhys and Feyre think his actual father is Helion). When he falls in love with a female his father disapproves of, his father kills the girl and forces him to watch. Lucien leaves for the Spring Court where he becomes Tamlins Emissary and friend.
He is a good friend to Feyre when she first arrives in the Spring Court and before Rhys came into the picture, I personally preferred Lucien as a match for Feyre over Tamlin. Obviously this didn’t happen, but Lucien remained friends with Feyre and he turned his back on Tamlin when he saw the truth.
He is now an emissary for the Night Court, and the mate of Elain, although Elain has yet to accept the mating bond with him. The Inner Circle don’t entirely trust Lucien despite the fact he has proved himself loyal several times. I think Lucien is one of the nicest characters and I feel like he gets a bad deal at times.
ToG – L is for Lysandra
At the start of the series, Lysandra is a courtesan and her and Celaena are enemies. Spoiler alert – as the series progresses, we learn that Lysandra was pushed into that life by Arobynn, the King of Assassins who also pushed Celaena into the assassin life. The two women end up bonding and Lysandra, a shifter, joins the rebels and is rewarded by being given a place in Aelin’s court.
Lysandra is a fairly complex character who is fearless and loyal to Aelin even when it hurts her personally and she is definitely one of my favourites.
Do you like today’s choice(s)? Who would you have chosen for this letter? Let me know in the comments.

Sounds like Lucien is part of a very dark storyline.

Sounds like Abrobynn needs to be taught a lesson…
