After loving The Rumour last year, I was really excited for Who Did You Tell?, Lesley Kara’s new release. It was definitely worth the wait. Read on for the full review.
Who Did You Tell? by Lesley Kara
Blurb from The Back Cover
It’s been 192 days, seven hours and fifteen minutes since her last drink. Now Astrid is trying to turn her life around.
Having reluctantly moved back in with her mother, in a quiet seaside town away from the temptations and painful memories of her life before, Astrid is focusing on her recovery. She’s going to meetings. Confessing her misdeeds. Making amends to those she’s wronged.
But someone knows exactly what Astrid is running from. And they won’t stop until she learns that some mistakes can’t be corrected.
Some mistakes, you have to pay for …
My Thoughts on The Book
Who Did You Tell? focuses on Astrid, a recovering alcoholic. The story pulls you straight in, and within the first few pages, you get a really good feel for Astrid. She’s a very well written character and despite her mistakes, you can’t help but root for her. There were times when I was screaming at her to make a different decision to the ones she makes, but still you feel for her and want everything to turn out ok for her. Essentially, she’s a likeable character who is trying to turn her life around.
I really liked Astrid’s mum’s character too. I think she would be very relatable to anyone who has had a family member or friend suffering from an addiction.
Throughout the book, we’re gradually introduced to Astrid’s big secret from the past as Astrid is tormented by someone who knows what she did. Lesley Kara has an incredible knack of keeping you guessing while still keeping you interested. I had worked out who the tormentor was by the time it was revealed, but not by much!
Conclusion and Rating
I was a little bit worried that Who Did You Tell? wouldn’t live up to The Rumour, but it was a needless worry. This book is fantastic and will keep you reading until the very end. 5/5.

I love the title. Instantly draws you in. While there’s been a lot of books featuring alcoholic women as unreliable narrators lately, the addition of a seaside town seems to set it apart. Plus, you loved it, so that’s a great sign.

I really enjoyed it, and I liked the fact that she is a recovering alcoholic who knows she has a problem rather than the usual character who is in denial about their drinking

Oh that does sound like a good one; though I get so frustrated when the characters are making decisions I’m yelling at them not to make. LOL
