For this year’s A-Z Challenge, I have decided to do “An A-Z of Sarah J Maas characters”. The characters will be from the ACOTAR (A Court of Thorns and Roses) and ToG (Throne of Glass) series’ because when I first started researching this idea, I hadn’t read all of the CC (Crescent City) series.
Each day I will focus on one character from ACOTAR, TOG, or both, and I will share things such as an image of how I imagine them to look, what I like or dislike about the character, and how they affect the story.
I will try my best not to have any spoilers and if there are any, they will only be small ones – if I judge this differently to you then I apologise in advance.
Without further ado, let’s get to today’s post – Day Three, C.
ACOTAR – C is for Cassian
Cassian, another Illyrian warrior, is part of the Inner Circle of the Night Court and is the General Commander of Rhysand’s army. For all he is a deadly warrior, he is also warm, funny and charming and gives puppy vibes. He is the opposite of Azriel which makes their friendship even more special.
*Spoiler alert* Watching Cass tame Nesta is both funny as they bounce off each other and sweet that he never gives up on her, even when she arguably deserves it.
My favourite Cassian quote – “I can think of no better way to end my existence than to defend those who need it most”.
ToG – C is for Chaol
For some reason, Chaol seems to be hated by the ToG fandom and I really don’t get why. Yes, he makes mistakes, but he owns them and his character growth is one of the best ones in the series in my opinion. He is loyal, grounded, and isn’t afraid to fight for what he believes in. I really don’t think Dorian could ask for a better right hand man.
*Spolier alert* I absolutely love Chaol and Yrene together. I love that Yrene doesn’t take any shit from Chaol and that Chaol finds something in Yrene that allows him to open up fully and be the man he always wanted to be.
My favourite Chaol quote – “I worry because I care. Gods help me, I know i shouldn’t, but I do. So I will always tell you to be careful, because I will always care what happens”.
Do you like today’s choice(s)? Who would you have chosen for this letter? Let me know in the comments.

I think the quote “I can think of no better way to end my existence than to defend those who need it most”. is most inspirational for a warrior
