1 Introduce yourself

Hi! I’m Kim an almost-30 Welsh mum of one. I moved to South Yorkshire for university in 2007 and never left. I live with my maths teacher husband and my daughter who I refer to as ragamuffin in all of my blogs posts.

2 Tell us a little bit about your blog

The tagline for my blog is ‘Putting a feminist spin on motherhood’. I blog about feminism and parenting because I want to empower parents to raise girls who shatter the glass ceiling before they ever realise that it was there.

I cover anything and everything from the definition of feminism to teaching young children about consent. I’m really passionate about equality and I think my blog reflects that. I want to help build a world that gives my daughter every opportunity that her male counterparts will have during the course of their lives.

3 What can your readers learn from your blog?

They will learn what the true meaning of feminism is. Not this bra-burning, man-hating nonsense that seems to have redefined feminism in recent years. I cover ways to raise future feminists and how to help children find who they are – not wh0 society tells them they are.

4 What’s your favourite thing about blogging?

Blogging is an outlet for me to express myself. Since I found my passion for feminism, writing about it has become an addiction.

5 And your least favourite thing about blogging?

All the promotion that comes with it just to get your blog seen. Promotion takes up about 80% of my time and only 20% is actually spent writing content.

6 Tell us one random fact about you

I own 2 pairs of Star Wars pyjamas.

7 If you could only blog about one thing for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?

Feminism. I’m in a privileged position being an educated white woman living in the UK. I’m driven to try to put that privilege to good use by flying the flag for other women who aren’t as fortunate as I am.

8 What was the hardest part of starting your blog and why?

It was definitely finding a niche. I started out trying to be a ‘tell it like it is’ parenting blog. I enjoyed blogging about being a parent but I wasn’t passionate about it. Don’t get me wrong – I love being a parent, but it didn’t ignite that fire in my belly the way that writing about feminism does.

9 If you could give new bloggers one piece of advice, what would it be?

Blog about something that gets you all fired up, something that means that writing never becomes a chore. That way you’ll never run out of ideas for new content.

10 Is there anything you know now that you wish you’d known in the beginning?

Plan your time wisely. Schedule your social media content in one go, plan your content in advance so that any time you allocate towards writing is actually spent writing. I’ll be honest, this only something I’ve got to grips with recently but I’m reaping the rewards of getting so much more done in the same amount of time.

11 Do you have any long term goals for your blog?

In the long term I’d love for my blog to turn into my business. I want to be more flexible to be able to fit my work life around my daughter.

12 Who’s your blogging hero?

Aby Moore from You Baby Me Mummy. I’m part of her ‘Mamapreneur Revolution’ Facebook group and it has such a good team spirit. She’s quite strict about keeping the group as somewhere to help one another rather than self-promotion, and that’s what makes it such a great online community.

13 What’s your favourite social media network and why?

It has to be Twitter. It’s easier to interact with other bloggers there than via other social media networks. People are more likely to like and share your content on twitter than they are Facebook.

14 Anything else you want to share with us?

Blogging can be hard work but also really rewarding. You might have weeks where it feels like you’re getting nowhere but then out of the blue you get a lovely comment that makes it all worthwhile.
