It’ so easy to get sucked into the drudgery of every day life and start to forget the things we really want to be doing, and often, it’s those things we forget that are the things that really fire us up.
It’s important to hang onto who you are and live the life you want to live – otherwise, you’re not really living, you’re just existing.
Of course, we have to be realistic about it. There are certain commitments we have to keep up, even when we don’t feel like it. Work, for example. Unless you have enough money to live comfortably for the rest of your life, it’s unlikely you’ll be able to stop working (although there’s nothing stopping you from making a career switch to something that fills you excitement).
The trick to living the life you want to is to always remember your goals – What is the life you want? How will you get there? – and keep working on achieving them without letting life take over and push them aside.
This is your life and it’s up to you to make the changes and allow yourself the chance to live the life you want to live.
If you find yourself constantly making excuses for why you can’t live the life you want to live, then maybe it’s a case of the things you thought you wanted not actually being that important to you.
If something is important to you, you would make time for it, it really is that simple. If you’re not, then reassess what life you want to live. Find the thing that sets your soul on fire and then strive for it.
Remember – the world doesn’t owe you anything, and if you sit around waiting for the life you want to land in your lap, you’re going to be disappointed. But chase that life, work towards it, and you can achieve the life you want. Nothing is impossible, just hard work.
What life do you want to be living? How are you working towards living that life? Let me know in the comments 🙂

Agreed. My happy life is my goal for this year and is behind all that I do.

I love this!

My goal was to learn to be less goal-focused. Sometimes ‘drive’ can be twisted (especially in corporate/workplace spheres) to keep people on a treadmill, with the reward ever out of reach.
My goal is now to step off the treadmill and have the confidence to set my own goals – and be really choosy about what I set.
Worth noting that being able to do this is a privilege – not everyone has the resources (for example digital poverty – no computer = harder to get work, harder to earn enough to buy one), time etc to prioritise things that are not just ‘surviving day to day’ and that’s not them being lazy or not driven, that’s sadly our unfair society.

I love that you’re setting your own goals now – striving to achieve goals someone else has set you is not always that rewarding, and I totally agree about certain corporate companies making the goals unattainable.

The biggest life lesson that I ever learned was that everything was a choice. It was up to me to decide who I wanted to be.

So very true, Thanks for the reminder

You should live the life you want to live because you never now when freaking cancer is going to come and screw that up. (I’m a bit salty toward cancer right now.)

I hope everything’s ok x
