The Blogger’s Corner series is an interview series featuring advice and experience from bloggers whose blogs are older than six months.
If you would like to take part, you can find all of the details here.
This week, we have the lovely Anna from Anna Nuttall.
1 Introduce yourself
Hi everyone. I’m Anna Nuttall living in London and married to my husband Richard. I worked in retail for 10 years before I left and fulfilled my addiction to social media and blogging, where I’m now work as fashion, lifestyle and travel blogger.
2 Tell us a little bit about your blog
My little blog started out as a portfolio site for my freelancing writing, but soon enough it ended up a place for my personal rambling. I like to post a mixture of women’s lifestyle topics, beauty product reviews and also travels. My main objective with this blog is to make people happy.
3 What can your readers learn from your blog?
Lots of information. Ranging from beauty reviews, blog tips and advices, to travel guides and also fashion ideas. I hope my readers go away and feel like they were talking with a friend and had friendly helpful tips and guidance.
4 What’s your favourite thing about blogging?
The flexibility and the freedom. I can work whenever I chooses and wherever I happen to be. I spent several years writing SEO copies for companies and I found it tiring. Now I can write whatever I want.
5 And your least favourite thing about blogging?
Chasing people with payment, also the admin side where it an endless stream of emails and pitches.
6 Tell us one random fact about you
I’m really into heavy metal – ok well to be accurate female-fronted symphonic metal. So I like bands such as Nightwish, Within Temptation, Delain and Epica.
Everyone is always really surprise when I say this as I’m always talking about visiting castle, the queen (not the band), tea dresses and bunnies. Lol.
I would never go see them in concert (got crowd phobia – hate being in a crowded place) but I’m always blasting their songs on my Spotify.
7 If you could only blog about one thing for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?
Oooh it has to be visiting places and me taking photos. I started to do this last year where I visited Hastings, Lewes and Brighton. Really enjoyed that and want to do more this year. I’m planning on joining English heritage, so watch this space.
8 What was the hardest part of starting your blog and why?
Deciding what direction to take it. Should I just post ootd (outfit of the day) or should I just focus on lifestyle topics. Eventually it all fell into place and it just felt natural.
Also how you want your site to look by logo designs, themes and so on. I’m never satisfied, as soon as I got something I like, the next day I’m annoyed and want to start all over again.
9 If you could give new bloggers one piece of advice, what would it be?
Just do it, you don’t know what it will be like till you try it. Also read up on every information you can find. Go on Pinterest and just browse people pins. Also look into what equipment you will need. Such as Photoshop, Tailwind and Hootsuite.
10 Is there anything you know now that you wish you’d known in the beginning?
Ummm, be more aware that you will come across people who are not all that friendly. I think because people hide behind their screen, they can be more of a troll. You will get nasty comments occasionally and the best thing is to brush it off and move on. The majority of people are really friendly.
11 Do you have any long term goals for your blog?
To blog while sitting on a beach in the Maldives. I can dream….
12 Who’s your blogging hero?
Carrie from Wish Wish Wish – love her photography and envious she’s always traveling. She also seems really friendly.
13 What’s your favourite social media network and why?
Pinterest. So I can spend my days pinning bunnies’ pictures. Haha I’m just kidding. I love all the pictures and it just nice place to go when you’re feeling stressed.
14 Anything else you want to share with us?
I’m always available for a chat, seriously anyone (well except trolls, obviously) can email me. I’m a friendly girl so feel free to say hi anytime. x
