1 Introduce yourself

My name is Karen Dennis and I’m 56 years young.

2 Tell us a little bit about your blog

My blog is The Next Best Thing to Mummy, featuring parenting/child minding tips and advice.

3 What can your readers learn from your blog?

My readers can learn from the knowledge that I gained from working as a registered child minder for 14 years.

4 What’s your favourite thing about blogging?

My favourite thing about blogging is that it has given me a hobby, since suffering a stroke which has left me disabled and unable to work.

5 And your least favourite thing about blogging?

I haven’t got a least favourite thing. I love it all.

6 Tell us one random fact about you

I have a superpower. After surviving a massive stroke and an unrelated brain tumour, I am still able to talk extremely well (much to my husband’s disappointment!).

7 If you could only blog about one thing for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?

Child minding, because I was passionate about it

8 What was the hardest part of starting your blog and why?

My son kindly set up and designed my blog for me, so I only had to come up with topics to write about, which I sometimes still struggle to do.

9 If you could give new bloggers one piece of advice, what would it be?

Don’t worry about the stats of blogging, it takes time to build a following.

10 Is there anything you know now that you wish you’d known in the beginning?

It took me a while to discover and understand about linky parties, a great way to get comments on posts.

11 Do you have any long term goals for your blog?

Just to gain new followers and continue to enjoy my hobby.

13 What’s your favourite social media network and why?

Twitter because that’s where I look for linky parties to join.

I achieved an outstanding grade at my last Ofsted inspection.
